Seriously.
Find 30 minutes. Then watch this.

https://t.co/dy0lz9DI #kony2012

and if youve seen this a million times and If youre skepticle of Kony and the LRA in Uganda, Read "They Come Back Singing" by Gary Smith http://t.co/1wMzoq2Y
That book is a point of view from Someone who lived & breathed the people involved in this story. Its not an emotional video, but its real

as with anything, you shouldnt listen to negative opinions of the #Kony2012 campaign from people who have no experience with the situation. talk and listen to people who have experience and know what they are talking about.

Its here and I can finally talk about it. One of the most exciting sets Ive worked on so far was for the release of the new Nikon D4.

The wheels have been rolling for months which culminated in New Orleans with Photography Legend +Joe McNally and crew really putting it through the ringer.

Even as a Canon shooter (dont say the C word), I was really really impressed with the camera. Dubbed as the Millennium Falcon since it was a pre-release, the D4 really got put through the paces on this shoot. through Dirt and Swamps and possibly Elephant Dung, Joe and Drew really let this camera have it. And it performed

The Gentlemen from Nikon's marketing firm in Japan and Nikon USA were a pleasure to work with and great times and hard work was had by all. I am not a blabber-mouth, but this has been one hard secret to keep...

Check out Joe's blog for his take and more photos from him:

Working with +Joe McNally and crew on a production for the release of the new Nikon D4 would have been enough of an experience in itself. They were a great as usual and the machine that is the D4 was amazing as expected.

But what I did not expect going into this was the emotions that would be experienced from hearing the story of of the Subject of the Shoot, Little Freddie King.

I dont know if it was me being from New Orleans and hearing from one of the great Blues artists still alive, or if it was the honesty with which he spoke and the richness in the stories he was telling, but hearing the Story of Little Freddie King was amazing and Im so happy to have been there, and thankful for +Drew Gurian and everyone else who was there capturing this amazing story of the Blues.

Check the video here:

Part of my current photographic life has me contracted as a photogrpaher with the US Army here in Louisiana. There are high and low parts to the contract but here is certainly one of the highs:

Getting to meet and photograph real Heroes on a weekly basis. One of our soldiers who just returned from Afghanistan was awarded the Silver Star for Bravery. Read the article for the full account but here is an excerpt:

"Gilboe reached out and grabbed the barrel of the enemy's AK-47 and pulled it toward his chest which was covered by an armor plate"

http://www.army.mil/article/71161/Fort_Polk_Soldier_receives_Silver_Star/

Happy to have the ~3500 members of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division home for good from the field.
