If you are a "progressive" and don't want to be insulted ... you should avoid this video ... and reality ... and any suggestion of logical thinking.

From my blog - for Independence Day: Wisdom and Courage
There is a day so special that no words can ever describe its importance to history. July 4, 1776 marked a new beginning for liberty, a new inspiration for long-suffering masses who dreamed of a better life for their families, a point from which the modern world could set a new course toward that elusive natural right of individuals to design their own futures. Signed on that special day and the days that followed, the Declaration Of ...

I Am the Lone Ranger is the sixth short story for my in-progress on-line book When I Was Donnie. Below, there is a link to the table of contents for the book. At my blog, just scroll down to the story section and click on the title.

In this story, as a six-year old in the 1950s,  I get a Lone Ranger outfit for Christmas and wear it to school. During recess on that particular day I go from being a usually shy and unnoticed kid on the playground to being the center of attention ... and that leads to a surprise ending for recess.

Read the story to find out what happens.

This story is true to the spirit of the life we lived back then but it is a re-creation, using fragments of memories from my childhood.

I encourage you to leave questions, comments, critiques, and words of encouragement on my blog (my preference) or here if you prefer.

More stories will be posted as they are finished.

Thank you for taking the time to read my work. I appreciate it.

This is my on-line book of short stories about my first 21 years, including my childhood as the son of a sharecropper and my year in Vietnam as a combat infantryman, a year that resulted in my life-long struggle with PTSD. The stories are inspired by real events but should not be considered a memoir. A full explanation can be found in the introduction. Links to the introduction and to the stories are in the Table of Contents below. The ...

As we celebrate Independence Day may we understand and always appreciate what it took to gain our freedoms.

July 4, 1776 …. God bless America and her founders .... and her defenders, then and now.

There are heroes in our midst, in flesh and in spirit. They drape their love of country in soldier's garb …. and serve.

With July 4th approaching, I wonder …. when will we declare our independence from modern liberal socialism? The colonists fought for independence and won; then, over the years, we gave up our much of our independence to our own government.

We must find within ourselves the wisdom and courage to declare independence from the looming tyranny of socialism. The founders defeated Great Britain, our old enemy from without; can we defeat modern liberal socialism, our new enemy from within?

Is having to pay for your own medical insurance what you call socialism? What exactly are you talking about?  Actually the ACA reduced socialism, but reducing the number of freeloaders who were pawning off their medical costs on others, driving everyone else's medical insurance costs up.

And "the founders" didn't defeat Great Britain, the French Expedition Army and French Battle Fleet from the Caribbean did.  If you've ever been to Yorktown you'd know this.  Did George Washington and his army help?  You bet.  But they didn't win it.  They had neither the heavy weaponry, nor the professional troops, nor the battle fleet.

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature." -- Abraham Lincoln (first inaugural address)

It's not over until Obamacare is repealed.
The King v. Burwell decision, incorrect as it was, does nothing to change the fact that it's still up to Congress to completely repeal Obamacare.
