OUR HISTORY | Just up the hill from the docks where thousands of souls were sold into servitude during the early 1700s, however, the descendants of those slaves gathered in droves during the Civil War, forming a pioneering black settlement and even taking up arms for freedom.
Slavery may not have been born on the banks of the York River. But the rich alluvial soil that made the region’s sweet-scented tobacco so popular and profitable during the late 1600s provided the historic ground where Virginia’s slave culture took root and blossomed.

I've been studying taekwondo and hapkido under Master Tinnon at Action Arts Academy USA for more than 10 years. The school is always professional and puts the students first. One of its big advantages is the how many location options the school has for classes on the Peninsula and beyond in Hampton Roads, VA: through Hampton YMCA, York Parks and Rec, Fort Eustis, Langley Air Force Base, Williamsburg Parks and Rec, College of William and Mary, and Gloucester Boys & Girls Club. And the prices are the most reasonable. Master Tinnon is always willing to work with families in financial difficulties.
