Wall Street Journal review of HBO series "Silicon Valley" episode 2. Comments from me, Josh Elman partner at Greylock Partners, and Chi-Hua Chien, general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
On episode 2 of HBO's "Silicon Valley," the bumbling entrepreneur may be too clueless to be true. Here’s the breakdown, with commentary from investors who have done their share of early-stage deals.

Great to see former Apple CEO John Sculley as an emcee this year at SXSW. I am a judge again this year. Last year was with CNN's Ali Velshi. Chris Valentine , the organizer, keeps upping his game. Should be a lot of fun!

Another great episode of Google Root Access. This one on pricing...the most important product decision you make.

When you're a startup, setting the right price for your product or service is important... and hard! But there are some rules of thumb you can follow.

If you have 9 minutes and don't want to spend any money, watch the latest Root Access episode, below.

If you want to dive deeper, you're in San Francisco and have $149 to spare, go to the pricing workshop this Saturday at the Lean Startup conference: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/science-of-pricing-tools-to-optimize-price-without-sacrificing-conversions-tickets-9492431117?discount=pivothack

This has been very hard for me in my web development startup business....I have the skills but pricing has often been tricky. I have delivered a $480 quotation while those guys expected something like a $1400 one :-)

+Don, those are all just things that place during the course of the relationship. The bottom line thought is "will this make money". That is what get's a yes or no response. The rest is just the fallout.

+Jermaine Dupri is boss! Making it in the music business is a lot like building a tech startup. Love his no BS style and street smarts. He could run any tech startup and make it super successful.

My show Google Root Access is getting discovered. Nice.

Has anyone checked out #RootAccess? I just found out about this show yesterday, and there is a huge  collection  already!  In this video, I found +Don Dodge 's comments around 2:25 particularly relevant to my startup. +Martin Omander  is even incorporating user comments and questions into the programming.... Well done!

Introduction
I am a Developer Advocate at Google helping developers build new applications on Google platforms and technologies. Prior to joining Google I was a startup evangelist at Microsoft. I am also a veteran of five start-ups including Forte Software, AltaVista, Napster, Bowstreet, and Groove Networks.

I started my software career with Digital Equipment, aka DEC, in the database group. I was part of the leadership team of five software start-ups. Forte Software was the first multiplatform object oriented development environment. AltaVista was the first search engine on the web. Napster was the first P2P file sharing network. Bowstreet was the first web services development environment. Groove Networks was the first secure P2P collaboration platform.
