recently programmed my own raytracer during a project at uni.
the first picture is the ray tracing result, the second a visualization for the data structure that stores the triangles

not the most beautiful model (yes its dinosaur biting a dolphin that jumps through a ring), but im i didn't try to win beauty contests :)

my pc had to compute intersection tests for about 4*1857*1056*(1+(5*(1+4*(1+(3*(1+2*(1+1)))))))=949.120.128 rays, each of which could hit one of the roughly 5000 triangles that made up the model. (formula: antialiasing * window resolution * (check light + recursive ray computation with a depth of 5)

computation time: 16 seconds on a i7-3770k running at 4.8 Ghz with 8 threads. really amazing how fast a computer can crunch those numbers, would be even more interesting to run it on a GPU :)

Best battery run time ever on my N5 thanks to +Francisco Franco!
2 days with 2 hours of display usage
#nexus5   #francokernel

Edit: still running: 3d 4m, 3:15h SOT, 5% left

Settings:
Google Location services turned off
Display brightness on auto
Display gamma white point reduced to 20 (for color correction reasons, but may increase screen on time: see http://goo.gl/iRZxLh for N5 gamma control app, needs root)
Data turned on, 3G (dont have a 4G contract anyway)
Bluetooth off (I don't use it)
WiFi advanced settings: never stay awake when display is turned off.

Location services are a battery destroyer on some devices. I only used them when I was navigating when I was still using my galaxy nexus. Now that I've switched to a moto x, i leave them on but use the battery saving mode and keep location reporting turned off.

Nightly Discussion  -

I'm getting a lot of "Mobile broadcast" notifications. They come back every time I remove them and the message ist always 12 digits. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm on latest nightly and have been loving the rom so far, it's very stable and fast, but those notifications are really anoying.

Seems like it stopped appearing again, cant make a screenshot anymore.. It was notification called "Mobile Broadcast" that appeared in the notification bar, sometimes every 5 minutes and every time I removed them they immediately came back as soon as the screen was turned off. It happened on nightly "CARBON-JB-EXP-14APR3024-002316" aswell as on the one before that. Device: Galaxy I9300 international. Could it be connected to the lately introduced libril?

Suggestions  -

+Mohammad Adib heres some feedback to your latest beta:
Option to disable the snap in transition (just doesn't feel natural to me while scrolling)

When bottom edge is activated, the starting selection is always focused at the least recently used item, not the last. Very annoying, because you need to scroll the whole list every time you want to reach the most recent app.

I would love it if the list moved exactly according to the x direction of the touch movement as that would be like scrolling usually acts in android.

You could consider vertical scrolling on the list when bottom edge is activated. Might feel more natural and you'd have more space for scrolling the list (my n5 always keeps about 10 apps in the running list)

Great app though, love it!
Merry Christmas ;)

edit: moved from discussion to suggestions

+NiMa Pathiranage yes, it is also possible using windows (in fact i did that). cygwin can provide you with the openssl binary needed to decrypt and encrypt the file.

This opens up a whole new world for web app development. Think of programming web services where you don't need to take care of hosting, because every client can store the relevant data in their own google drive space.
The online IDE looks pretty neat aswell

+Francisco Franco  love your kernel on my Nexus 10, but being used to Siyah kernel on my GS3 I have one feature request: Is it possible to add configuration of maximum charging currents? I would love to charge my N10 using my USB3 port which supports higher currents but it seems the N10 charges way too slow

Seems like a good idea. I will research on that.
