Dominican University mourns the loss of Sister Mary Clemente Davlin, OP, ’50. Sr. Clemente died on December 19, 2017, at the age of 88, at St. Dominic Villa in Hazel Green, WI.

Sr. Clemente was a 1950 graduate of Rosary College. She taught on campus from 1970-2005 and then served as Professor Emerita of English. In 1973 and again in 1997, Sr. Clemente was honored with Dominican’s Excellence in Teaching Award. She was particularly devoted to underrepresented students, organizing programs to mentor and support their success. The university’s annual diversity leadership award is named in her honor.

Sr. Clemente will be remembered as a great mentor of not only her students but of her colleagues as well. Her gracious friendship was a tremendous gift to the entire university community and to the community beyond the campus gates.
