My reply to +Steve Djadoenath
asking if the $100 discount from Microsoft (in return for 'ditching your PS3') is 'desperate' or not...
"It's what we in the trade call 'distressed marketing'. It is designed to be emotional in nature and spark a knee-jerk purchase, because anyone that stops and thinks about this for more than a second realizes:
- $100 off makes the Xbox One about the same price as the PS4, and that's the natural upgrade path for a PS3 owner anyway
- PlayStation Plus - for less than Xbox Live Gold - has delivered over $690 of free games so far (plus $800+ of discounts) and continues to be insane value
- The trade-in value of a good quality PS3 is actually higher than $100"
What do you think?
