This talk is fabulous if you just want to dip your toes into the world of pelvic floor wisdom. For example, you may want to know how to fix occasional, annoying bladder control issues, like when you sneeze, or when you go for a run. Or... you may have been told that you have a prolapse or you have been dealing with one for awhile and want to get rid of it. Or... you may just be curious. Whatever your case is, reserve your spot, as we only have a few.

Healthy eating is medicine. It can prevent various health issues and it can also cure many. It can make your bum smaller. But it can not make your pelvic floor muscles stronger. That particular perk remains spectacularly with pelvic floor exercises.

Having said that…. Women who return to their healthy body weight find their incontinence and prolapse improve. This isn’t because their pelvic floor muscles became stronger; this is rather because the weight on top of their pelvic floor became less.

The best time to start exercising the pelvic floor muscles after childbirth is within 24 hours or when it is conveniently possible.

If you are unsure of pelvic floor exercises at this time it is best to give them a miss and wait at least six weeks to learn them properly (www.discreetlyfit.com).

If you have received an injury to your perineum or had a c-section, ask your health care provider when it is safe to start. It may be best for your injury to heal uninterrupted first. At this time remember to get your injury checked out with a pelvic health physio as well.
