I don't know why, but I decided to start a Google+ community...

These photos were taken in May of 2016 of a historic university in Texas hill country, now abandoned. This hidden gem was a pleasant surprise for me, as I wasn't expecting to find so much stuff still intact within. The owner has struggled to keep up with minimal maintenance of the property and the items inside, but he admits his attempts are falling short given the age and advanced state decay of the old campus. *This location was accessed and photographed with permission from the property owner. **The photos below are all SOOC (unedited).

Being surrounded by a vibrant, engrossing past is a fascinating experience. It can also break your heart.

I had fun just editing the hell out of this one. Particularly with a newly purchased #iOS app called #lightweaver. :) An #abandoned hotel in Arkansas, erected in the 1920's and showcasing the then-popular Art Deco stye down to the tiniest details. The architect's use of natural lighting was some of the most impressive I've ever seen. I was also impressed with its incredibly solid construction.

I'm just curious (and fine, a little confused!), about this new google stuff.
Introduction
I just decided that my profile was too long-winded, so I erased it.  Suffice to say, this photo collection was created initially mostly for online storage of data.., then I realized that people actually looked at this stuff.  Try not to judge too harshly.  This is the only spot I don't bother censuring the content - so a lot of it sucks.

It's clean and the products look in stock and in date. Gas prices seemed a little higher than average but I am in the middle of nowhere so I can't exactly expect a steal of a deal. My main complaint is the bathroom was closed for cleaning and she wouldn't let me use the restroom until she finished. It would be faster to just drive to Marlin. Aside from that issue, it was better than I expected for a middle-of-nowhere store!

We hadn't even brought in our first bag before we saw a roach in our room. We turned right around and walked out within 60 seconds of getting here. EDIT: I added one star, only because the front desk did not hassle us for requesting a full refund.

SUPPLEMENTAL 12-15: I did not believe at possible, but they have, and fact, gotten worse. Even on my most creative day I could not have screwed up (even on purpose!) as completely as Toyota did this time around. I took it in to be serviced for six specific things: First and one of the top two most critical items, was the mysterious deformity in my trunk, almost to the point where it would not close completely. This had the unfortunate side effect of getting everything in my trunk what if the car was washed for it rained. I was told this was a body issue. That was fine, I assumed as much. I was told they would send it to the shop and in a couple days I would have my car back, repaired. I asked them to delay informing my insurance until I found out if it would affect my rates. They agreed. 2. The other major thing was my tires were completely bald. As far as I can tell, this is the only service provided that was done adequately. They actually put tires on my car. I've been taking my vehicle(s) to this dealership, and have even purchased 3 vehicles at the Grapevine location, since they opened over a decade ago. Unfortunately, there has been a gradual yet steady decline in service over the last 3-5 years. Last year, I had my car inspected and serviced, and they overlooked the most blatant issue which was a missing side view mirror. The service manager indicated that he would call the next morning "personally" and have me in-and-out in about 15 minutes that following day. I never heard back from anyone. The car detail was poorly done and they even managed to break part of the underside on my drivers seat as well as overlook simple yet obvious details and/or common sense areas of overall service. I was very disappointed in the work. My inspection/service is due this month and after reading the positive reviews of late, I'm hopeful that this dealership has improved as much as the previous raters state in their reviews...

I was referred to Dr Hartland via an old friend and I've been a "patient" there for about 10 years now. Dr. Hartland is truly blessed in her medical abilities as well as her compassion. I had to put one of my cats to sleep about six years ago, and Dr Hartland and her staff were the best one could hope for under such difficult circumstances. I even received a condolance card in the mail signed by every staff member. I still have it. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars is due to inconsistencies in their front desk/administrative operations... (such as being put on hold and never getting through - more than once), there seems to be a breakdown of communication with the clerical staff and the nurses/Dr. This is usually a minor irritant, and I know turnover is probably much higher in a clerical/reception position, causing some of the issues, but it's been fairly ongoing. A quick note regarding pricing: Dr. Hartland's services are not cheap (often on the high end, but still fair). With that said, the adage, "you get what you pay for," comes to mind. I'd never want to have to leave my cats under the care of anyone else. This hospital is remarkable - even instrumental the loss of the cat I'd had for 12 years. I recommended her to my own mom and would stand by that recommendation.
