What did I hope to accomplish by talking to Nightline and Maria Kang?

"I know that Maria was not trying to shame women when she chose the picture or the tagline. I tried to make that very clear to her. All we hoped for was that she recognize the thousands of voices who had expressed dismay, that she empathize with the women who are doing all they can right now, that she understand that we can all be role models, regardless of whether we are a size 4, 14, or 24.

And whatever airs tonight, please hear this: we are here to support you wherever you are. We are here to love you first – whatever your size, whatever your priorities, no excuses necessary.

We want to empower you to make your health and fitness a priority not because someone is telling you that you need to, not out of a sense of shame, but because you want to take care of you. Because we believe that genuine, positive, lifelong change will be more attainable when you love yourself from the inside out."

And be sure to join me tonight for Nightline Prime - 10pm EST.
I'm not sure what Nightline will air tonight (see the promo here, and see a blog post from Paula Faris, the correspondent we spent time with). The experience was a positive one for me, as it was for my friend Sara, who graciously allowed Nightline to follow her family around for two days.

This store is a little bit of heaven. You can sample dozens of different gourmet flavored olive oils and vinegars, mixing and matching them to find your favorite combinations. I highly recommend getting the 5 pack set - you can customize a box with any combination of oils/vinegars you like. We got 4 vinegars (espresso, dark chocolate, strawberry and cinnamon pear) and the cilantro and roasted onion olive oil. Also be sure to check out the recipes they have printed out to take all over the store. I cannot wait to try some of the ideas they have featured. And you can send them your own recipes featuring your favorite flavors. The staff was friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back the next time we're in Lawrence!
