The coffee in the office tasted like soap this morning. So: Starbucks!

Palace Steak House
3047 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94110
Palace Family Steakhouse is one of the greatest places ever. Everyone needs to go. Now. Anything you could possibly want, from hummus and falafel for the vegans, to steak and pasta and burgers and pizza for the everyone else. The pita bread is just the greatest I have ever had. I get giddy with happiness every time I go. They make the pita bread fresh when you order hummus and words can't even describe how good it is. GO.

The guy who makes the food and who takes your order and brings you your food and who owns the joint is just one of the most humble charming people in the world. And the food is just sooooo good! I'm vegan, so I don't eat the steak -- but everything else I've had there has been out of sight. Seriously. The pita bread is in a world of its own. And my boyfriend loves the steak dinners.

For some reason I just get so happy when I'm anywhere near Palace Family Steakhouse. It's just a homey place, completely humble and without pretentions, owned and staffed by friendly earnest people, and full of cheap DELICIOUS food. It's a special sort of magic.

So far I've had the hummus and pita bread (like a million times), the salad (which you add toppings to at a salad bar), baked potatoes, garlic bread, tabbouleh, and grape leaves. It's all top notch. Carnivorous boyfriend gives the steak a solid 4 out of 5 stars as well. And for $13.95, you really can't beat it -- includes drink, salad, baked potato, garlic bread, and steak.

I just want everyone to go and try the pita bread. No possible way anyone could not love that stuff.

Hey,  I'm thinking about making a few gluten free pies for the holidays.  Would you be willing to teach me a few tricks?
