Just a little reminder that I'm still thinking of beat-making/producing...just have to get some new equipment, and that takes money...so I'm waiting on some green to float my way.

Probably my favorite song from Marques Houston. Straight up R&B with a catchy beat. Wonder where he went.

The remix that ended Craig Mack's career. Lol I'm just playing..

One thing I have noticed...NY had a bunch of dreadhead rappers back then...I must have missed that wave. Lol

One of the songs that I really wish wasn't a skit. The beat is dope.

Not going to lie...I don't listen to J. Cole much, but maybe I can get a different perspective through this community.

Thanks for the invitation.

Underrated to the max...AZ should have blew up like some of his associates and other rappers in NY did.

Two of the West Coast's best producers rapping together...and they spit some tough bars at times.

The more I listen to these guys, the more I know that this style of rap is getting pushed away.

The rap game won't be the same without these guys...now, I appreciate DJ Muggs and House of Pain more than ever.

Not trying to throw shade at the whole 2Pac and Nas debacle...but we do have other rappers that have made moves in the game as well. They have made their marks in Hip-Hop/Rap history, but when we are talking about a community "dedicated" to Hip-Hop and the Rap genre, there are some alternative choices.

Like Yasin Bey, otherwise known as Mos Def. Almost nothing but dopeness from this guy since he got started with De La Soul and his group with Talib, Blackstar. He never gave the impression of a thug or anything like that, but he displayed street smarts in his lines. He was more focused on the music than that other sh*t back then. He gave me the impression that he was more inclined on making music to fit his tastes rather than making an album to please the masses...as if he was doing it more for himself than anything else.

And with a dude like that retiring some time in the near future (and some other sh*t that he got himself into), I think more artists like Yasin Bey needs more exposure than is presented here in this community. Heck, a lot of rappers do. Hip-Hop itself has a wide spectrum of rappers, each unique in their own way.

That is, unless some people are just too closed-minded to give other Hip-Hop albums a shot...

+lawC0vRu pl7mnz&* I doubt the U.S. Government are sitting there saying "I don't want Mos Def back in our country! He betrayed us!" And all that Guantanamo bay stuff was already all over Google before Mos did that video.

I think this fits here more than in the Hip-Hop community...because not all people there have that appreciation towards the production of a track.

Alright...another entry of #SongsIdSample

This time I'm looking into: "Locking The Mall" from Dawn Of The Dead OST (1978) or "La caccia" by Goblin

First off, I love the 70's in terms of their music quality. It wasn't as clear (as the technology was still growing back then), but they had a way of making songs sound great for their time. This song is no different; the drums sound awesome in this, and the strings have that vintage sound to them. I love it!

I also am a fanatic of horror films in general, so I couldn't pass up an awesome song like this.

I actually sampled this song twice; each beat that I made used a different sequence from the song. One beat I borrowed from the strings in the beginning, and the other I borrowed from the violin plucks from the part after the strings.

The samples themselves were tweaked in order to match the way I wanted them to be in the track, so you may notice change in pitch/tempo or filtering that wasn't in the original.
