#ubuntu  make users should have noticed a minor release today: 0.6.1, bringing some usability enhancements, various fixes, new strings marked up for translations and test fixes! Ensure to upgrade from the Ubuntu Make ppa if you are a trusty or utopic user, or from latest vivid!

For those interested, more detailed changelog in the link below.  #ubuntulovesdevelopers

Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) are supposed to make programming easier, one problem with them however is that it can be difficult to install the latest version of an IDE on a Linux system if they are not in the repos.

Luckily a solution exists, on Ubuntu, to install Android Studio and other IDEs like Eclipse with greater ease. And that solution is a cli tool called Ubuntu Make. It can be installing by adding its PPA to your system:

fsckd patches now in #systemd  upstream! Get report and cancellation support on running fsck with  #plymouth  when you system is booting up.
Add systemd-fsckd multiplexer which accepts multiple systemd-fsck instances to connect to it and sends progress report. systemd-fsckd then computes and writes to /dev/console the number of devices currently being checked and the minimum fsck progress. This will be used for interactive progress ...

Just saw that my Ubuntu Touch Internals presentation done in ELC 2014 was published this week.

For those who are interested to know a bit more of the Ubuntu Touch Internals, just check the video, it's still quite relevant :-)

We have in fact sold-out of Ubuntu phones for today's flash sale. Due to high demand this morning, many of you faced server issues which we apologies for.

As a result of the inconvenience and understandable frustration, we have decided to allocate an additional batch and hold another flash sale today at 3pm (CET.) We don't anticipate any further server issues and the BQ shop will be open until stock lasts - please note phones are available in Europe only. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Just one step away!

Yay, I got NFS to work under systemd in vivid. That's the last blocker for flipping the default init!

Making videos is hard.  It's taken a lot longer than I hoped to get this finished.  Anyway, here you go - Convergence In Action.

All the Unity & Mir code will land in the trunk once the teams are happy with the quality.  Some of it is already there.  We're still not quite satisfied with Xmir, there is more work to do around the input stack, so please bear with us while we get the bugs ironed out and then we'll get the alpha version ready for you to try on your own devices.

If you can get to MWC, come and see us in hall 8, 1F41.  If you can't, that's why we made you this video, and I'll capture a few moments from next week and share them here.

Filmed in Potatovision.

(Huge thanks to everyone who helped get us this far.  Thanks for staying up late, getting up early and working through lunchtimes to fix bugs, add features and get the demo's working.  It is enormously appreciated.  Go Ubuntu!)

Rock on #ubuntu  Make community!

5 new jetbrain-based ides brought entirely by the community with Ubuntu Make on latest LTS and further Ubuntu releases. PyCharm (educational and professional), RubyMine, PhpStorm, WebStorm. We now have 15 platforms supported, and that wouldn't have been possible without this community participation.

Be next and share that #ubuntulovesdevelopers !
What always inspires me in my work is that community participation is at heart of what we are doing, and that’s what help us waking up everyday. Anybody can dive and fix small

Being able to see fsck progress with systemd on plymouth boot logo and cancel them if in a rush to boot. \o/ (can't wait to get it upstream once #systemd  219 is released).

Thanks +Martin Pitt and +Michael Biebl for your excellent work on systemd ;)

systemd bug fixing galore! It seems we won't get a 219 release in time for feature freeze any more, so I cherrypicked a lot from upstream git. This fixes several major bugs, and also includes the stellar contribution from +Didier Roche to integrate fsck into Plymouth; and doing so in a clean and upstream compatible way, not the hack that we currently have in Ubuntu which could never go anywhere and was a translation/theme porting woe. (The patches can't land upstream yet as upstream is in bug fixing mode for 219, but will hopefully land after releasing 219). Also a big thanks to +Michael Biebl , glad to see you back!

New Ubuntu Make (0.5) release, adding #dartlang  support, #android  NDK, #intellijidea  Ultimate and #firefoxdeveloperedition ! Getting web, java, C or any other developer setup is just getting easier on #ubuntu !

Do not hesitate to report any feedback and ideas on the upstream project (https://github.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-make) and share that  #ubuntulovesdevelopers !
Hot from the builders, we just cut a big release of Ubuntu Make 0.5 bringing fresh new support to a bunch of IDEs and programming languages! Web developers will see great
