I cannot believe this beautiful song has been co-opted to push somebody's political agenda. Disgusting.

Got started with my Aerogardens recently. Ginger Booth inspires me.
Two more weeks and it's officially Spring! I started my impatiens today, and thought a quick blog post on seed-starting tricks might be fun. 1. Use a plastic bag to wet the soil. My friend Beth taught me this trick. Dry potting mix, especially the fine seed-starting mixes, are hard to wet.

Dog Chew Treat Warning - An Austin, Texas man has reported that his dog died from an intestinal blockage and toxic shock after eating a Pur Luv bacon-flavored chew. And apparently, this isn't the only time this has happened to a dog given this same product. Do you consider the safety of dog chews when you choose one for your pet? What chew treat would you recommend to fellow dog lovers? Of course, please be sure to share this warning with other dog owners, too. http://www.khou.com/news/texas-news/Austin-man-says-a-pet-treat-killed-his-dog--260245831.html
After the retailer Petco announced Wednesday that by the end of the year it will no longer sell any treat made in China, one local pet owner is speaking up about a pet treat made in the US that contributed to the death of his beloved pet.

I don't want to be in a video, but I have an important question. Will somebody ask the president for me? #AskObama2014 It is this:

Will the ACA regulate the dental-care-only plans on the exchanges so Medicare recipients can safely sign up for a plan? And please explain why potentially life-threatening dental problems (for example, cellulitis from an irreparable crown that can only be extracted by an endodontist) are not covered by Medicare. This seems penny-wise, pound-foolish to me.
Next Tuesday, at 9pm EST, President Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address to Congress. Later that week, you'll have the chance to connect with the President and speak about his administration’s plan in the ...

Editor/Publisher, "Many Hats" Wearer
Introduction
My public life is in cyberspace, where I periodically engage in progressive activism but mostly just read widely and avidly to educate and amuse myself. Physically, I am very much a hermit with an intense dislike of telephones and doorbells.

In the physical world, I love gardening (if it's not too infernally hot) while talking to the Universe/myself and the veggies and bugs. I love chickens, and I used to have some, but they all got eaten by hawks or foxes despite my best efforts to protect them from predators. So I figure I'm not very good at that.

What I AM good at is independent publishing, at which I work with my long-time partner, the editor/publisher and poet Robert S. King. I've been involved in the small press movement since the early seventies, and I still spend most of my time obsessively editing, designing, and publishing books.

My favorite saying is "I'm just wandering around in a crowd of myself," and that sums me up pretty well.

I once spent the night under a redwood tree.
