13 Hidden Traditions of Mabon - up at Llewellyn Journal!
Mabon, of all the Sabbats, does not directly correlate to any known Celtic or Anglo-Saxon holiday. Instead, the harvest that it celebrates honored an entire season of sacred, survival-ensuring work. Mabon's predecessor, Michaelmas, came about as a recognized holy day during harvest season as a ...

Gee, G+ sure seems to be filling up with profiles from widowers that just happen to want a relationship with a good woman. The parameters described seem to require a lobotomy, but hey, we all have our preferences. (Pretty sure it's spam.)

So I'm in Albuquerque right now, and I love it. Yesterday I saw the best illustration of the difference between American Asatru and some of the European stuff I keep hearing about: the local Pagan-owned herb shop is run by an Asatru family (they are traditional that way.) It has a thriving black clientele. Of course, there may be other huge racial issues I'm just not here long enough to see, but the people that own the shop manage not to be idiots to their clients that's good. They bent over backwards to get repeat business from me, too. :)

Just a thought on something I might propose for a workshop at next year's #pantheacon  - stepping outside the ego, a necessary skills for ecstatic dance and trance work.
Ecstatic dance is awesome. Done well, you tune out your chatter and start a conversation with your body: how do you feel? Where do you need to move, to stretch, to play? The music keeps your brain busy while you keep that conversation going with your body. I've been involved with and interested ...

Introduction
Writer. Blogger. Out of the Wiccan broom closet whether I like it or not. There is no party with which I'm involved that has a line that goes anywhere near my toes.

Published Book: Divorcing a Real Witch: for Pagans and the people that used to love them. Published by Moon Books, 2014.

Artist's Way
Also, I am very much involved with the works of Julia Cameron. She is, for lack of a better comparison, my Oprah Winfrey. I have spent since 2008 working through her Artist's Way book series and it has made a wonderful difference in my creative production as well as in the rest of my life.

A few other points:
  • I am neither elitist nor lowbrow.
  • I am 15 years behind on my reading, at the very least.
  • My two most notable fandom/geekouts belong to Daria and Doctor Who.
  • I have a life partner. He has his own stuff going on.
  • My orientation is...tricky. (Not yet recognized?)
  • I am an ally to LGBT rights, women's rights, human rights, and generally making an effort.
  • I am a feminist. Not post, not pre. Right NOW. Because the world needs me to be one, and I'm doing it for myself.
  • Yes, I AM Pagan. No, I do NOT: camp, enjoy JRR Tolkien or related works, see anything praiseworthy or worthy of criticism in being a Luddite, hate Christians or atheists, consider men "the enemy," collect crystals, collect cats or other pets, and when I do wear patchouli I'm extraordinarily picky about its quality and sourcing. I also stopped being a hippie when I discovered Oxford heels.
