The inaugural Project Healing Waters-NorCal 2015 Two-Pattern Tournament promises to be fun and challenging, all while supporting local efforts to help the recovery of veterans through fly fishing fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings. This inaugural fundraiser will take place at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, adjacent to the beautiful Sundial Bridge in Redding, Calif., beginning on the afternoon of April 18 and going through the evening of April 19. This event will bring together the resources of two major Northern California fly-fishing clubs, the Diablo Valley Fly Fishermen (Walnut Creek) and Shasta Trinity Fly Fishers (Redding) with the tremendous support of The Fly Shop in Redding. It will also allow donors and sponsors the chance to participate in a fun fishing competition with our disabled veterans. Mark your calendars and join us!

It's never too soon to start tying flies for the Annual DVFF Auction! Any and all flies are welcome and are one of the single most important aspects in helping to fund the club's donations to conservation organizations affects water we fish. If you don't tie, be prepared to buy April 14, 2015...what better flies than those tied by the people who use them successfully?

Congratulations to Willy George! Willy was recognized as the 2014 Member of the Year at the DVFF Crab Feed last Saturday for his contributions to the club, including his on-going work in casting instruction, years of service in club administration and as the lead instructor for the DVF Novice Seminar, from which he retired last year after teaching hundreds of fly fishing students). The list of fish pursued (and landed) by Willy include including numerous species of trout, bass, striped bass, steelhead, Atlantic and Pacific salmon, muskie, pike, walleye, shad, tarpon, bonefish, redfish, snook and trevally.
