I finished reading the rules section of Little Wizards this evening. I'm impressed. Sixty pages of rules to get you going on a wild ride of imagination. The only thing I question is the LP system (experience points).
The players will be getting around 15 LP per game, which seems like a lot, until you see how much it costs to increase Traits, Powers, etc. So, character growth will not happen very quickly.
I don't have a problem with this. The games I love have very slow character growth/change. I just don't know how the slow growth will be accepted by kids. Granted, I'm thinking about gamers coming from a background of D&D, where you're always looking for the next power and skill bonus. Kids who are new to gaming might not be looking for new abilities, as much.
During the day tomorrow I'll be putting together some notes on a Tale and then my son and I will try to make time to run through it tomorrow evening. He's excited to play the game again, which gets me excited as well.
