We recently had the pleasure of spending several nights at the Devereaux Shields House Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Natchez MS. The late 1800’s main house was meticulously and beautifully decorated and instantly transported us back to a time of elegant tranquility. The first two nights were spent in the premiere Gallery Suite with one additional night in the Elmo Suite at Aunt Clara’s cottage a few doors down the street from the main house. We would like to say what an extreme pleasure it was spending time with the owners of the Devereaux Shields House, Ron and Eleanor Fry. They were most gracious hosts and went out of their way to make us feel like family. They were such a tremendous help in prioritizing our touring schedule which helped us maximize our short stay in Natchez. This was one of those trips that will be remembered fondly throughout our lifetime and we highly recommend this wonderful establishment to potential visitors to the area. We will definitely be returning to the Devereaux Shields House on our next visit. Thank you Ron & Eleanor! Butch & Mary Hill

Dear Butch & Mary, We are most pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. While we strive to provide a consistently high quality guest experience for all our guests, it is most gratifying that some as yourself express their warm appreciation for our hospitality. Thank you very much for your kind words for our elegant tranquility, concierge service and gracious hospitality. Mostly you touched us greatly with your thoughts of providing you a lifetime experience worth remembering. We too thoroughly enjoyed our brief time and conversations together. We hope you enjoy your custom coffee cup stoneware and signature luxury robe. We look forward to your next Natchez visit as a comforting opportunity to serve you. Warmest Regards, Ron & Eleanor

My wife and I spent the weekend at the Devereaux Sheilds House last weekend in Natchez, Mississippi. This was my first experience staying at a bed and breakfast and it was very pleasant. The Victorian house was beautiful and very clean. Ron, Eleanor, and Doris were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Breakfast at the Aunt Clara's house every morning was delicious and very southern. Our room was the Gallery, which is a two room suite with a private bathroom. It was the only room with a private walk out veranda which was wonderful for relaxing while having morning coffee and watching the birds in the big crepe myrtle trees. The location was great for getting around Natchez. Everything was literally a 5 minute drive from the house. My wife enjoyed everything Natchez had to offer from the Devereaux Sheilds House B and B, to walking on the Bluff path, to touring the Rosalie Antebellum House, and having great food at several places. Natches was a fun weekend get away and the Devereaux Sheilds House was great. I highly recommend visiting. One last thing. Compared to the French Quarter in New Orleans, a trip to Natchez is much easier on your wallet.

Dear Corey, Thank you for your heart-felt review of Natchez and our B&B. We welcome first-time B&B stay guests to our Victorian Southern Comfort Hospitality as a gentle introduction to our lodging world. You chose our best room that we enjoy the veranda when you are not here :-) We see you enjoyed Eleanor's greatest delight of the many varieties of birds as they flit about and enjoy our many water fountains, feeders and perches. You seemed to enjoy a view of the Mississippi River from our Bluff-top walk that helped sell us to live here. We're glad you visited Rosalie that reportedly has the largest collection of original furnishings. It finally sounds like you enjoyed our many delightful restaurants. We enjoyed introducing you to our city and most heartedly will welcome you back. Ron & Eleanor/Owners & Innkeepers

Me and my boyfriend stayed here Valentine's Day 2014. It was by far one of the most romantic getaways we've ever encountered. We went to a beautiful plantation the morning of Valentine's Day and had a beautiful breakfast. I highly recommend if your looking for something to get away and have a great time, this is definitely the plantation. Last but not least the couple was so welcoming. 5stars)

I can't wait to get back to a visit to Natchez and when I do, I will definitely be staying at Devereaux Shields. If the historic South is what you're in town for, then you can't go wrong if you choose to stay here. In my opinion, it is the best part of town to stay in. A beautiful street with several Antebellum homes in walking distance and the property itself is gorgeous. They have lovely gardens, my room was spacious, and Ron & Eleanor are truly gracious hosts. Breakfast is definitely worth the price of admission itself. Southern, hearty and delicious. Hopefully you will stay on a biscuit morning. They are to die for!

It was a hot, sunny day and our two rooms, the Rose Suite, were very comfortably air conditioned, with ceiling fans. The toiletries are luxurious; the hosts gracious and friendly, and the food and ambience terrific. I've been to Natchez before, never stayed there, and am convinced, after staying in Devereaux Shields, that it's worth a two-night layover when staying with Ron and Elinor. Not to be missed, along with lunch at The Carriage House.
