The city just keeps making mistakes and now one person is standing up against the abuse.
Commercial developer Surish Shah is suing the city of Desert Hot Springs for $1.8 million regarding the Mission Lakes Marketplace shopping center. City officials made a deal with the developer then city officials changed their minds the next month and broke the deal.

It appears that the relationship of Richard Oberhaus may have been intentionally kept secret from the licensing application. It is not known if Oberhaus made phone calls to other planning commissioners or what his communications were with city staff, planning commissioners and council members.

The outcome won the applicant special favor to move forward with construction even though the conduct of the planning commission may have violated laws.
The rules of order were not followed. Seems a predetermined favorable decision had already been determined prior to the public hearing.
