It’s easy for the average driver to feel a little intimidated by mechanics who seem to speak a foreign language when it comes to discussing your car repairs. Check out our blog post for a few, simple automotive terms guide that every driver should know.

I found Desert Oasis on Google. I've been going to the BMW shop for a long time until my service providers kept changing. I am so glad that I did change to Desert Oasis. It's a family business and they're friendly, dependable, trustworthy, and I know they'll stand behind their work. I've been going to Desert Oasis for the past 2 years and I'm happy with the continued maintenance on my car. I don't normally recommend businesses, and don't like to create public profiles either but I was willing to do this for Desert because I am really glad that they care of my car.

I recently had an issue with my BMW328i, after a consultation with Desert Oasis. I went home and did research on the net. Their advice was accurate and subsequently the work was done. They took their time, preformed the work and the car is running just fine. All work preformed right at the estimate price. They also fixed a lighting problem that had been bugging me for a couple of months. This is a family run shop that has employee's that take pride in what they do. I would recommend them to family and friends.

Horrible in the fact I had my car returned with a burn to my headlight. It might be a jumper cable burn or cigarette or who knows what. Every detail picture was taken before bringing the car in so why would they not tell me about my headlight upon leaving, Is there no exit pictures. I had to find out on my own in my driveway after noticing because they had it front parked at the shop. The owner GEORGE told me that it is my fault for choosing his shop. That they will not pay for a new headlight or even try to fix my headlight. He said that it is not his responsibility. As an owner he had accused me by saying his shop had nothing to do with it because nobody else touched my car. What a coward who won't stand up for his shops mistakes. Other than that they refused to work on any of the other issues on my car unless I bought an ECM from them. The ECM i have was modified but I said even if the error codes were wrong I still wanted a fuel injector fixed and was denied any service to my car and was charged the diagnostic fee of $111.36. I had no problem paying for diagnostic, my problem is how I had just De- Oxidized my headlights so my high beam was brighter before taking my car in and everything was fine but next thing I know $111.36 dollars later now I have to get a new $180.00 headlight plastic. Would never recommend or return unless they pay to fix their mistake to replace my headlight. Worst service ever. I got better service from Volkswagen on Sahara and the guy down the street who fixes cars at his house. $111.36 to plug in a Vag-com andiron my headlight. thanks a lot George gus melissa and the rest of the staff. thanks....

In response to your review I just wanted to clarify a few things. We do not use jumper cables. No one in our shop smokes cigarettes. We typically take pictures of body damage on the vehicle when it comes in. We do this to avoid situations just like this. Unfortunately we did not get pictures of you headlight specifically, we also do not take pictures before a vehicle leaves. Had we damaged anything we would have admitted and taken care of the issue. George did speak with you at length, he remained calmed while you raised your voice and spoken rudely to him. We could hear your voice through the phone. Anyone who has done business with George knows how remarkable calm and patient he is. George asked you repeatedly not to curse at him. He explained to you that we did not damage you headlight. That it could have been caused when the tow truck (who used a jumper box) tried to get power to the car to get it out of park. He no way blamed you for choosing us as your shop. He did try repeatedly to be reasonable with you. (Not something a coward would do or even call you back for that matter.) This shop is built on integrity not placing blame on others. Here are facts about your car; your vehicle came in with a no start no crank issue. It had a bad battery. Even after we charged your battery it still would not turn over. Your vehicle had an Engine Control Module that has been tampered with. Malisa attempted multiple times to explain that we needed to verify this module was even functioning due to the many faults in the on board system related specifically to this module. You requested repeatedly to check for sludge in your engine, to replace a fuel pump and to replace the cam adjuster unit because you thought those items were your problem. Rather than take your money and be dishonest with you Malisa again explained we had reason to believe any of that was wrong. No faults for the adjuster or pump are present. We did not “just plug in a VAG-com” as you put it. We did a full diagnostic scan of your vehicle with Viacom and Autologic both as well as complete the test plans for the systems. We charged your battery as well. We found parts tampered with, glued together. That module is not designed to be opened. You claimed to Malisa Volkswagen replace that Engine Control Module. (In all our years fixing these German vehicles we have never seen anything like that from any dealership in Las Vegas.) Volkswagen would never have installed a glued up module as you claimed they did. We even recommended taking it to them for their warranty on that module. We recommended this because this is where we would start. We felt this would be in your best interest because it would not have a cost to it. This time scanning, running test plans and charging your battery took my technician well over 2 hours. You opted not to do any of our suggestions to remedy your vehicles main issues. (no crank, no start) Even at no additional cost to you your answer was still check for oil sludge and fuel pump although no fault codes are present for these problems. To us it is unethical to run up your tab up by replacing parts just to replace them. We could not go on with a working relationship with you like this. You were only charged for 1 hour of diagnostic which you felt was unfair even though we put much time and effort into this vehicle. You received exceptional customer service from our staff from Malisa and Gus both. We chose to be honest and up front with you about what we found. Rather than jumping in and replacing parts at random for your amusement which would not have resolved your no crank no starting issues. You may likely have a bad Engine Control Module. You could have been out hundreds of dollars for no reason. That being said it is difficult to see how we would not accept responsibility for your headlight had we damaged it. We went out our way to be honest about the repairs you needed. Why on Earth would we take advantage you over this headlight.

John , we would have gladly checked and registered this again for you at no charge had you let us know you were having an issue. We use the same system BMW using when scanning or communicating with the on board system. There was no intent to be dishonest or deceive you. We offer a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on all repairs if returned to us for repair. This is clearly stated on our invoices.

Engine service light came on 6 months after I purchased used from BMW Las Vegas?! Dealer informed me There is a $125 "diagnostic charge" to check the onboard computer. Did a little research on google and yelp And found Desert Oasis with the highest rating and reviews, so I tried them. They accommodated me on short notice Thursday morning because I was going on a long 5 hr trip. After an hour and a half, I got the Bmer back with a totally completed diagnosis with no issues found. Turns out the light was set just to bring it in for a "check up", probably by the dealership, who knows, but the creme-de-la-creme was the bill I got......$ 0. Just a friendly smile and I was on my way, worry free. VERY honest business and great service.

Brought my BMW back after the problem was not completely fixed and the service and care could not have been any better. They finally fixed the problem that was not very obvious. George was very attentive, called me to keep me informed, and was there when I picked the car up to make sure I was happy. He explained the problem and now my BMW is fixed and I am very grateful to the Technicians and George for the way they handled everything. They even gave me a loaner car so that I could continue to go to work. GREAT JOB Desert Oasis.... The only place I will take my BMW.

I've had my 2001 Porsche serviced here now for over a year. I love that I always see the same staff. They are also extremely knowledgable and willing to share information. As a matter of fact,my car has to go in for service tomorrow. Expecting nothing but professionalism.

Desert Oasis has been great to me. I've been working between AZ & NV for decades, but until recently didn't need my car in NV. That changed last year & I needed a local mechanic. Desert Oasis was straightforward, fair and was able to accommodate my funky travel schedule. I couldn't be happier with them.
