...except that MTV started airing a steadily-increasing quantity of reality shows, game shows, animated series, and scripted programming long before 1999 when Napster was first introduced. "Remote Control" debuted in 1987. "The Real World" first aired in 1992.

My generation stole music because record companies got greedy and kept raising prices (and were successfully sued twice for price-fixing, resulting in multi-million dollar settlements). We also 'stole' it because they refused to sell us MP3s because the margins weren't as high as CDs. The RIAA even tried to block MP3 players from being manufactured (like the MPAA and TV industries tried to block the VCR).

Facing off on opposite coasts of the Mitten State, Joe DiBenedetto and Andy Heller battled via FaceTime for the H.O.R.S.E. championship. Neck-in-neck for the first half, Joe broke away to claim a resounding Zero - HORSE win and clinch office glory. No word on whether students are rioting in Joe's hometown of Massapequa, NY over the triumph...

Here at LE&A we have a certain nostalgia for the Internet 1.0; listservs, Usenet, and the first leap in digital animation: the animated gif. With the resurgence in the popularity of the animated gif (and we don’t care what Steve Wilhite says, we still pronounce it with a hard “G”), we thought we would give you a window into the personalities of our team with some old-school animations in all their 256-color glory. Introduction
I'm a life-long geek who has been been using "social media" since before it had a name.

I love this stuff and have the benefit of over a decade of immersion in the medium. I spent college in front of a computer monitor instead of partying, and one of my favorite things in the world is to get other people as excited about the intersection of communications theory and technology as I am.

If you're in to credentials, I have Bachelor's and Master's in Communications from Grand Valley State University and I've worked at Grand Rapids-based communications firms including J.W. Messner, Inc. and Seyferth & Associates. I've done crisis communications, online reputation management, written social media policy, developed training, and promotion for over a decade with Grand Rapids Community College.

Presently I'm a Marketing Associate at 834 Design & Marketing and most recently worked on the promotional campaign that made "Lights in the Night" a Top Five Artprize entry.

I currently serve on the board of the West Michigan Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the Marketing Committee of the West Michigan Environmental Action Council, the Marketing Committee of the Grand Rapids Film Festival, and I'm an adjunct faculty member at Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University.

This is my dad's agency, and I've worked in it for a number of years (and I've been a policyholder for over a decade) so I know how well customers are treated, and how good the insurance coverage is. That's why they've been in business for over thirty years.

I was impressed with a variety of facets of Health Motion when I sought treatment there; the staff are knowledgeable and helpful, the facility is well-maintained, and they were very good about ensuring the process was efficient (so I could be in and out quickly and back to work).

This company deceptively recruits college students by promising them jobs in marketing/advertising when in reality they offer jobs in door-to-door sales. They've since switched their name to Cohesion, Inc in an attempt to escape the bad publicity their poor business practices has earned them online.

Terrible customer service at the pharmacy desk - there was a female representative who was rude and unnecessarily suspicious of the information given to her by my girlfriend in order to obtain a prescription.

The front office staff at this location is unhelpful; no one acknowledges you when you enter the facility or offers to direct you where to go. Patients are left to guess what desks to go to and what sheets to sign in on.

I've gone to several vets in the area (including Cascade) and this is by far my favorite (worth the drive from Grand Rapids). They've treated several of my dogs very well over the past few years (from puppy to having to put one down) and they have very reasonable prices. As a bonus they're also right next door to the best dog trainer in the area: Mary Hovingh. No one at Allendale Animal Hospital would try to rip anyone off; they won't even try to upsell people on expensive flea/tick/heartworm treatments like some of the other vets. CUJM's review may be a result of misunderstanding how rabies vaccinations work (that 1 year after the first vaccination they get a booster and from then on it's vaccinations every 3 years).
