Dumfries & Galloway Wedding - Emma & William.

Check out the latest on the website. Started a featured wedding section which includes some of my favourite weddings.
Emma's and William's wedding in Dumfries was a huge event. I don't think I've ever seen so many people crammed into a church before. It was a glorious sunny day in the far south west corner of Dumfries and we were lapping it up! After the ceremony we headed to Park Cottage where Emma & William danced the night away as the sun set on a perfect wedding.

Yeah, the split room thing isn't ideal but the marquee is brilliant. Pity there's been complaints about noise though. Hopefully it'll get sorted.

Introduction
Hi, I'm Derek Christie, a wedding and portrait photographer based just outside, Edinburgh. I am married with a beautiful wife and an amazing son who has a severe learning disability and is Autistic.

I have been incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love for a living. I get to go to weddings every weekend. What's not to like? Always happy occasions and seeing clients faces light up when they see their photos is just the best feeling ever.

I am into photography and technology. Ok, gadgets. I'm a self confessed gadget man at heart. if it's new, shiny and blinks at me I'll probably fall in love with it. What can I say? I'm a geek.

Bragging rights
Got the wooden spoon at a golf outing 4 years ago and still can't get rid of it. A reverse brag I suppose.

I am a professional wedding photographer who has worked with CityBrides on numerous occasions. I have always found Helen and the team on the day nothing but superb. Every bride I have worked with has been delighted with the results and many can be seen on my website if needed. It's also not the first time Helen has stepped in to save the day on non-hair related potential problems, like a dress not quite buttoning up or a malfunctioned zipper. Helen alway goes the extra mile. As a photographer I need my brides to feel confident, great and looking amazing on the day and believe me, City Brides delivers every time!

To say I was disappointed when eating her for our last night in Glasgow would be an understatement. Don't get me wrong, as the score above indicates, it was OK. But at £100 for 2 starters, 2 mains and a bottle of wine, I really expected more than just ok. We didn't book a table for Good Friday (A mistake on our part). It was clearly going to be a very busy night for "The Grill." The reviews were so good, we decided to wait the approximate 45 mins for a table to become available. After around a half hour or so we were shown to our table....a booth in the bar area. Not over the moon with that to be honest as the restaurant area of "the Grill" looks lovely. Felt like we were sitting in an "Outback" or TGI Fridays." On to starters and to be honest these were terrific. I had Duck spring rolls which were packed full of meat and flavour. My wife had Chicken Skewers with peanut butter. She thought these were ok. We's ordered two fiilet steaks, one medium rare and one medium well. Being a Steakhouse, I was really hoping for a brilliant succulent steak with nice blushing when cut open. This didn't happen. My fillet was of the narrow but tall cylindrical cut, perfect for a medium rare cook. The waiter never asked who was having which steak. I cut into mine. Clearly well done! I looked over at my wife's. Maybe medium but not medium rare. By this time it's 9pm and we are starving so we just swapped plates. My wife's steak was a narrower fillet but wider. A stick on for a well done cook as it isn't as thick but is wider. both steaks not cooked as asked. the steaks themselves once we got past this again were just ok. No nice charring on the outside that I would expect from a top Grill. Finished with a couple of Jaffa cake shots. very nice. Our server, Andrew was brilliant though. Really nice guy (Not the guy that brought over the steaks). He was chatty and charming throughout. I would have given 2 stars just because at the pricepoint, you should expect better but the starter along with the prompt service bumped it up one more. So, TGI like experience but a bit more expensive thanks to being sat in the bar for what we thought would be a nice meal.

My wife booked a wee weekend away in Glasgow over Easter and top of her list for the first night was some great Indian food. Thanks to Tripadviser and G+'s reviews, we headed to Charcoals in Renfrew Street. We hadn't booked but this wasn't a problem and we were given a seat by the window. My mobile phone was running very low on juice after a day of taking photos but the staff were brilliant and charged it up for me while we ate. To start with I went for the Chicken Pakora which was delicious and as I'm a low carb eater, went for the Chef's Special Tandoori which was chicken infused with different flavours. It was beautiful! So moist and tender. My wife had a curry, North Indian garlic and Chilli maybe but I'm not sure as we weren't taking notes as we didn't go in for a review. it was a great meal with amazingly friendly staff and If I'm back in Glasgow to catch a show or do some shopping, we will definitely be back!

My wife and I headed into Merchant Square for a wander around. We are from Edinburgh so we were doing the tourist thing. I had a wee look at the lunch menu which looked great, so we decided to go back for lunch. I had Haggis fritters to start and followed it with Venison stew. It was beautiful. the meat was cooked perfectly, the venison just melted in the mouth. The portion size was very generous too as I hardly had room to pack in the Cranachan Ice Cream. My wife went for Haggis with Clapshot and also raved about her's too. £9.95 for two courses of this standard is frankly amazing value. I'll definitely be paying Arisaig another visit but this time I think dinner may be on the cards.
