Family Photography With Rhona, Graham And Little Isla

Lovely family shoot down by the Forth Bridge, South Queensferry.
#family   #photography   #forth
I met up with Rhona, Graham and little Isla at Hawes Pier, South Queensferry last Sunday. We had rescheduled from a couple of weeks previous as that day the weather was terrible. Sunday was perfect though. We picked out a lovely spot beyond Hawes Pier for some great shots with the Forth Bridge in the background. A great little place for future reference! We took a stroll along to the harbour chatting about the plans for the big day ...

Engagement Photoshoot - Caroline & Owen

Caroline & Owen's E-Session at one of Scotland's best beaches.
#e-session #engagement   #portraits
I met up with Caroline & Owen down at Gullane beach on a beautiful August evening. A beautiful setting for some engagement photography but it was really, really busy! So much for the quiet secluded shoot. Didn't matter though as they were both brilliant. Wedding blog coming soon!

Natalie & Craig's Wedding At Dunglass Estate

Fantastic autumnal wedding at Dunglass.
Dunglass Estate looks incredible in the Autumn! Those red and orange leaves ready to fall on to the lush green grass. The perfect day for Natalie & Craig's wedding. The morning didn't too smoothly for one vendor due to car issues but that was quickly forgotten about as the ceremony time fast approached. By the time 3pm came all was well and it was time to start the wedding. Natalie & her father walked down the Aisle at Dunglass' beautiful consec...

Gullane Engagement Photography - Emma & Shane.

A blustery photoshoot down at Gullane with Emma & Shane. Gullane is such a lovely beach for photographs as it has everything. Those dunes, white sands and the crescent shape which looks awesome in the background. Emma & Shane were up for pretty much anything and they had a ball. It really shines through in the photos just how much they mean to each other. It was a joy to see and photograph. The big day is next month in Melrose!

Amy & Kyle's E-Session  in Perth, Scotland

Lovely engagement shoot with a fantastic couple. Roll on Aswanley in May!

#weddingphotography   #engagement   #engagementphotography   #Perth
I met up with Amy and Kyle at Rodney Gardens in Perth last Sunday for their Engagement Shoot. It was great to catch up with Amy & Kyle before the wedding and as they live all the way up in Aberdeenshire, we chose Perth as a great location halfway between us. They were both great and we got some great shots. With Amy & Kyle and Aswanley for a venue, this is going to be an awesome wedding!

Glencorse Wedding Photography - Caroline & Owen

Beautiful wedding at one of Midlothian's premier wedding venues.
#weddingphotography   #weddings   #scotland
Caroline & Owen's Glencorse House wedding in the heart of Midlothian was a fantastic day. Bridal preparations were taking place at Caroline's mum's place in Edinburgh. It's a great time for bride and bridesmaid to chill and be pampered before the ceremony. I arrived at Glencorse Kirk nice and early and was blown away! It's the first time I have shot a wedding at Glencorse and to have the consecrated kirk available for pretty much any...

Natalie & Craig's Wedding At Dunglass Estate
Beautiful autumnal wedding at Dunglass estate.
Dunglass Estate is fast becoming one of my favourite wedding venues. It has everything you could want for your wedding day. A beautiful consecrated church, a stunning country house for bridal preparations and a huge marquee for the reception. I love it! When I arrived it looks as though things may run late a little due to a slight hiccup but these things happen and all involved sorted things out very quickly indeed. Before long Natal...

Introduction
Hi, I'm Derek Christie, a wedding and portrait photographer based just outside, Edinburgh. I am married with a beautiful wife and an amazing son who has a severe learning disability and is Autistic.

I have been incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love for a living. I get to go to weddings every weekend. What's not to like? Always happy occasions and seeing clients faces light up when they see their photos is just the best feeling ever.

I am into photography and technology. Ok, gadgets. I'm a self confessed gadget man at heart. if it's new, shiny and blinks at me I'll probably fall in love with it. What can I say? I'm a geek.

Bragging rights
Got the wooden spoon at a golf outing 4 years ago and still can't get rid of it. A reverse brag I suppose.

Jennifer & James' beautiful Murthly Castle Wedding in Perthshire. This stunning private venue is the best venue I've ever shot a wedding at.

I am a professional wedding photographer who has worked with CityBrides on numerous occasions. I have always found Helen and the team on the day nothing but superb. Every bride I have worked with has been delighted with the results and many can be seen on my website if needed. It's also not the first time Helen has stepped in to save the day on non-hair related potential problems, like a dress not quite buttoning up or a malfunctioned zipper. Helen alway goes the extra mile. As a photographer I need my brides to feel confident, great and looking amazing on the day and believe me, City Brides delivers every time!

To say I was disappointed when eating her for our last night in Glasgow would be an understatement. Don't get me wrong, as the score above indicates, it was OK. But at £100 for 2 starters, 2 mains and a bottle of wine, I really expected more than just ok. We didn't book a table for Good Friday (A mistake on our part). It was clearly going to be a very busy night for "The Grill." The reviews were so good, we decided to wait the approximate 45 mins for a table to become available. After around a half hour or so we were shown to our table....a booth in the bar area. Not over the moon with that to be honest as the restaurant area of "the Grill" looks lovely. Felt like we were sitting in an "Outback" or TGI Fridays." On to starters and to be honest these were terrific. I had Duck spring rolls which were packed full of meat and flavour. My wife had Chicken Skewers with peanut butter. She thought these were ok. We's ordered two fiilet steaks, one medium rare and one medium well. Being a Steakhouse, I was really hoping for a brilliant succulent steak with nice blushing when cut open. This didn't happen. My fillet was of the narrow but tall cylindrical cut, perfect for a medium rare cook. The waiter never asked who was having which steak. I cut into mine. Clearly well done! I looked over at my wife's. Maybe medium but not medium rare. By this time it's 9pm and we are starving so we just swapped plates. My wife's steak was a narrower fillet but wider. A stick on for a well done cook as it isn't as thick but is wider. both steaks not cooked as asked. the steaks themselves once we got past this again were just ok. No nice charring on the outside that I would expect from a top Grill. Finished with a couple of Jaffa cake shots. very nice. Our server, Andrew was brilliant though. Really nice guy (Not the guy that brought over the steaks). He was chatty and charming throughout. I would have given 2 stars just because at the pricepoint, you should expect better but the starter along with the prompt service bumped it up one more. So, TGI like experience but a bit more expensive thanks to being sat in the bar for what we thought would be a nice meal.

My wife booked a wee weekend away in Glasgow over Easter and top of her list for the first night was some great Indian food. Thanks to Tripadviser and G+'s reviews, we headed to Charcoals in Renfrew Street. We hadn't booked but this wasn't a problem and we were given a seat by the window. My mobile phone was running very low on juice after a day of taking photos but the staff were brilliant and charged it up for me while we ate. To start with I went for the Chicken Pakora which was delicious and as I'm a low carb eater, went for the Chef's Special Tandoori which was chicken infused with different flavours. It was beautiful! So moist and tender. My wife had a curry, North Indian garlic and Chilli maybe but I'm not sure as we weren't taking notes as we didn't go in for a review. it was a great meal with amazingly friendly staff and If I'm back in Glasgow to catch a show or do some shopping, we will definitely be back!

My wife and I headed into Merchant Square for a wander around. We are from Edinburgh so we were doing the tourist thing. I had a wee look at the lunch menu which looked great, so we decided to go back for lunch. I had Haggis fritters to start and followed it with Venison stew. It was beautiful. the meat was cooked perfectly, the venison just melted in the mouth. The portion size was very generous too as I hardly had room to pack in the Cranachan Ice Cream. My wife went for Haggis with Clapshot and also raved about her's too. £9.95 for two courses of this standard is frankly amazing value. I'll definitely be paying Arisaig another visit but this time I think dinner may be on the cards.
