Hermey the Elf didn’t want to make toys for Santa. Instead, he wanted to be a dentist, saying: I've been studying. It's fascinating; you've no idea. Molars and bicuspids and incisors...” We think dentistry is pretty fascinating too, Hermey!

Always choose water instead of soda! Consistent consumption of soft drinks is the leading cause of tooth decay in older kids, teens and young adults. Sodas (even diet sodas) and sports drinks greatly weaken tooth enamel! #ToothLove

Parents are often concerned about the nocturnal grinding of teeth, known as bruxism. The first sign is usually a grinding noise during sleep. You may also notice wear to the dentition. If excessive wear of the teeth is noticeable, then a night mouth guard may be recommended. The good news is, most children outgrow bruxism without treatment. If you suspect bruxism, we can discuss this at your next appointment! #dentalfaq

Not all chewing gum is created equal. Look for sugar-free chewing gum and especially gum made with xylitol, a natural sweetener that’s actually been shown to reduce cavities! #ToothLove

Choosing floss for your child can be difficult, especially if they’re new to flossing. Dental tape is a great solution for young flossers. Dental tape is wide and flat and designed to be gentle on exposed gums. The width of dental tape makes it easier for small hands to grasp it, and makes it more forgiving when children use too much pressure while flossing. #ToothLove
