What if I told you there is now a place where all those things you did from your Facebook Groups to develop a relevant and interested audience for your business, could be done easier, smarter, more effectively, and free of charge?

Google+ Communities, because of the added services available to Google+ Users and integration with all the other benefits of the Google infrastructure, simply blows Facebook Groups out of the water.

Google+ has unveiled a new Communities feature to let users create interest-focused groups and an Instagram-style photo tool for mobile users. The social network also announced that it now has 135 million active monthly users, up from 100 million in September. Google + As A Hub for NGOs and Nonprofits?

While there is a little bit of skepticism reported in the article, "Is Google + just social for the sake of social?" Points out key benefit:

But Google's new personalised search feature, which it has called "Search plus Your World", means account holders – anyone signed in to Google via features such as GoogleMail or GoogleDocs – will see people and organisations they are connected to on Google+ prominently in their search results – just beneath the search box. And that, say some experts, could prove the tipping point for Google+ becoming just as significant for brands, including charities, as Twitter and Facebook.

So attracting followers on Google+ could become a priority, and Google has created web pages to help charities understand what they can do on the site. But which charities are on there, and what are they gaining by putting time and effort into their presence on the site?

I have a good idea of what charities are here, but I want to know what NGOs are getting in terms of results!

I have been on it since the morning of day 1 and “know” how it works. You only truly know however by doing and I, like many of you, have been guilty of too little of that.I have been reviewing my strategy and have spent a lot of time in the past few days refining my circles.

Here are 9 things, all fairly basic, that I’d love you to consider.

Morning all! I just updated my Google+ Best Practices for Nonprofits. The site has changed so much since they were first written that most were dropped and completely re-written. I'll add three news best practices every month. Thanks!
