Good points +Tom Moloughney
and I did not know BMW was planning on covering a good part of the re-registration. Good tip! I really don't think the ELR
is in our future but the thing you mentioned about them being vastly different is true. If they weren't electric, we wouldn't be comparing them at all, right? Thing is, when you talk about more electric range in the i3, it's true but then I drive a Volt now and it's range is fine for me with the exception of a specific trip I take to visit family sometimes. The Volt, ELR and i3
will all have to use the range extender on that trip so the specifics are rather moot. (Except that the Volt and ELR won't sound like a Massey Ferguson when the extender is running!) And given a choice between luxury and sportiness, luxury would win for me. I've read the i3 has a bit of a harsh ride... I don't like the sound of that. I've read it's wicked fast... I don't care much as my Volt is more than fast enough. A lot of what is optional on the i3 is standard on the ELR. Very different cars but since we are all in the market for an EV and the market is limited, one has to consider everything. If the lease price is only $100 or so more...
