Awesome guitar, awesome guitar player! Fender should have made this iteration (a double-cut) of the Telecaster long ago; I hope this becomes a standard offering. Now just to find one of these limited editions...

Happy Canada Day 2014 everyone!

Here's a few fireworks shots from last evening... I braved the man-eating mosquitoes for these! :-)

Photo geek details: Sony Alpha a58 at ISO 100 and 15 seconds, using a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 set to 50mm and f11.

+Joe Satriani kickin' it at the Centre in The Square in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada on October 10, 2013.

This was my favorite photo from the series... to me this is classic Satriani! :-) A big thanks goes out to Joe and his fantastic management/web-team for access to shoot the show. You can see several other images from that performance on his G+ page. Joe is just amazing live, so if he's coming to your town you have to go!

Photo geek details: Shot with the Sony Alpha 58 and Minolta AF 70-200mm F4 lens on manual at 1/250 at F4 and ISO 1600.

Last Saturday (September 28, 2013) I spent an afternoon with the Sony Canada imaging team and several of their dedicated Alpha users photographing models down at Graffiti Alley in Toronto. It was a real blast, and Sony Canada really knows how to take care of their customers! I'm thrilled to see much enthusiasm around their products; they've been so innovative as of late and really have made much ground in the photographic industry!

All photos made with the awesome little Alpha 58 and the 35mm f1.8 or venerable Minolta Maxxum AF 70-210mm f4 lens. With the A58 I'm "dipping my toe" in the SLT arena. It allows me to use much of my old Minolta glass in addition to some of the great new Sony lenses. It also makes a great addition to my several NEX series cameras!

I was invited to attend a Sony Zeiss event this week, and was fortunate enough to be able to try a pre-release Sony Alpha 6000 with the 16-70mm f4 Zeiss lens. What a fantastic little camera and lens combination... this is definitely on the want list now! The images (skin tones) are beautiful, the phase-detect focus tracking was amazing, and the 11 frame/second shutter rate was just incredible...again, all for a non-final pre-release camera the performance was still totally impressive! The images attached are a combination of available and strobe lighting... and are to be considered as non-final sample images.

A big thanks goes to Sony Digital Imaging Canada for their warm hospitality and for putting on this awesome event!

Took a short trail walk with my pup Riley today; it was a very nice day and the fall colours are starting to arrive. Even though I'm a bit under the weather this week fighting off the typical September cold/flu, it was nice to get out of the house and for a nature walk with the dog.

All images taken the fine little Fujifilm XF1, a very interesting and capable small camera that can be had for a real bargain currently!

Then this... a significant and influential camera model/system is relegated to history... what a sad day, I'm going back to bed...

That looks like an old camera. It's sad that the V system line is ending. :..(
