I can testify to this, even the hiring process is designed for an experience you feel great about, with hospitality build in.
Jill Riopelle was ecstatic - Airbnb just called with the job offer she so desperately wanted. Double-fist pump. Happy dance. But then… Crickets. The written offer didn’t arrive the following week as promised. Nor the week after. Nor the week after that. Zip. Nada. Was it all a mistake? Jill’s excitement gave way to insecurity

Now here are some interesting stats on hospital websites and how patients search for information:

- 77% of online health seekers began their last session at a search engine
- 52% of smart-phone owners have used their phone to look up health information
- 49% of the nation's top hospitals lack a mobile-friendly website

There still is so much work to be done to make the web a better place...

The Dutch are usually well known for driving their caravans on the German Autobahn, holding up the traffic.
Let me get you in a little secret, this is done on purpose to annoy our eastern neighbors to the max.

I spotted this little caravan on a street in San Francisco and had to think about how cool it would be to take this one for a spin. Maybe go camping with the kids, I bet they would love to sleep in such a small caravan...

Seen that poem of a 14-yrs old boy go viral a couple of weeks ago? Prepare yourself to be shocked how a girl half his age can write about love better than a lot of grownups. See how this 2nd grader is able to express herself about love for her family.

This is what my 7 years old daughter writes about Love, and the love for her family. I don’t know how many grown ups would be able to write like this.. Do you?!?

Please like, Tweet and share, as she just started blogging. It will make her very excited to see how this works, and her work is appreciated.
Love will always stay in every  family member’s heart. I truly love my family. My warm mother  makes my favorite mexican spicy chicken when I’m sad and her face always has a happy look on it. A glorious funny dad will bring memories to my heart and my loving little brothers will always make me …

Proud Dutchy living in The City of San Francisco, working at SEO opportunities with Airbnb

I'm Dennis Goedegebuure, working for  Airbnb in San Francisco.

My wife, Fiona, and I have three kids, a girl Bo-Jools and two boys Deyan & Valentyn, who are all born in San Francisco. We currently live in San Francisco.

I'm a photography enthusiast, I have a website with my best digital pictures, and have my skydiving certificate. The first I do on a regular basis, the latter I have not done since my babies were born but would love to pick up again. Other than that, I like to travel and experience new cultures.

Prior to Airbnb & Geeknet I've been with eBay for 9+ years in various roles in the Internet Marketing team. I started my eBay career in The Netherlands office working for both eBay and Marktplaats, which is the local classifieds site. After 3.5 years I transferred over to the US San Jose office, to take on a global coordination role in Internet Marketing, with the emphasis on SEO. In this role I not only worked for the eBay websites, but also consulted for Paypal, Skype,, StumbleUpon & the classifieds portfolio.

From 2008 until 2011 I've been responsible for all SEO for the 22 global eBay marketplaces sites. The team I managed was primarily focused on the delivery of the SEO strategy, consulting with product teams on projects, training of the product & engineering teams, and custom content. One of my pet projects at eBay was to create viral stories based on eBay data with the help of Infographics. It's a lot of fun to see stories go viral and get picked up by large technology blogs. Two stories I'm particular proud of are the iPad export stories last- & this year, which can be found here and here

For SEO, I use a number of external tools I can highly recommend:

(I pay for these tools, and endorse these because of their value for my work)

My wife things I'm addicted to the internet, and I confess that she is right. I show abnormal behavior if I cannot get online for more than a day. I spend quite some time on Social Media websites like Twitter, Foursquare, Flickr etc. Not only to better understand the medium and look for new marketing opportunities, but also to keep in touch with the friends and industry people I connected with. I maintain a couple of my own websites, which are rather small given the fact these are in Dutch or personal blogs. My English blog can be found here, if you are interested in SEO, photography or travel.
