This is a sample of one of the worst cases requiring image stabilization -- walking, first by creating a 6x render in Vegas Pro, and then a 6x render in the Gallus application without stabilization, where it analyzes the source and chooses the frames with the least motion, and finally with full active smoothing.

This was created in the Instagram Hyperlapse alternative (given that it doesn't even exist on Android) I created and released on the weekend. The application is called Gallus and can be found at-

It is an imperfect application, and is limited by the functionality of your device (if your sensors are noisy or inaccurate, it will be evident), but I'm pretty proud of it and hope you find it useful.

Gallus is a new application on the Play Store, available for Android 4.4+ devices. This sample was created with a Nexus 5, and while the subject matter is miserable, it should give some idea how it functions.

Google+ is something that I've been somewhat negligent about over the past while. It's a fantastic network, and the technology is solid (and Google+ is the reason image quality on Facebook increased dramatically. Before Google+ presented some notion of a threat, the JPEG-artifact laden abominations on Facebook were an intolerable abomination).

My own professional and family network just didn't use it enough to really merit frequent visits, which is the classic network effect problem. It's wonderful technology, and a fantastic design, but it's still fighting upstream.

In any case, I had a laugh recently to realize that my presence on here has been continuing via various activities my children undertake on the pads, and couple of which happened to be running on this account. Never did get around to setting up the multi-account functionality on the pads.
