Sad. Yet again. Losing too many of my heroes this month. I bought every one of the Eagles LPs and listened to them till they wore out. Didn't have time to shed a tear this morning when I heard, but it's my quiet time now and I have time to reflect on what a huge impact music has on our lives and how personal it is when someone who has has that kind of impact leaves us. RIP Glenn Frey. You really do have the best company on the other side. I wouldn't go so far to say I'm envious, but heck, that's one heck of band over there now!

Yes. A giant of British screen and stage. We will miss his unmistakeable voice. A complete Original. (FYI The article includes video of some of his famous roles). Still can't believe our little country has lost two of its finest in a week!
Much-loved star of stage, TV and films including Harry Potter and Die Hard – and owner of one of the most singular voices in acting – has died in London

I felt like I'd been punched in the stomach when I heard the news this morning that David Bowie was gone. Much like I did when Freddie left us. Two of the greatest voices and unique individuals of our time. RIP David. You've got some great company on the other side.

Yeah, Dense, the legacy they left us is a real gift to our culture :-)

This morning I got notified by my Fitbit that I got the Serengeti Badge for walking 500 miles. No prizes for guessing the song that popped into my head the moment I saw that. :) This is a cover of course. But a very good cover and definitely worth sharing. After all, I don't want to be the only one humming this for the rest of the day. :-)

Goodbye PC. Hello Mac. Just a couple of days with my new Mac and the only thing I can say is, why the heck did I wait so long?

It certainly is quite different. I remember going from Windows Vista to OSX Leopard and trying to figure out where everything was but also how much simpler it was to do tasks. Thankfully, a friend had OSX Tiger so I got a little bit of a preview. ;)

Indeed, there are bugs that get annoying so it's a good thing you still have your PC as a back up. The Apple forums and Mac Rumors forum are most helpful if you're trying to figure out a recurring problem like a kernel panic, etc. and using Terminal or decoding Console logs, as well.

That's right, I remember you mentioning the iPhone. I bet connecting the two for transfers and such will be pretty nice for so many apps. I guess I'll have to check your YouTube to see how your iMovie listings turn out. :)

Drive safe if you have to go anywhere though, I hope you don't have any showings. The same little blizzard left pretty quick but we still have refrozen half-melted snow (if that's the right term for it), lots of wind and cold temps. The good thing is, my cat is enjoying the flying leaves. =^..^=

Glad to see you're still here, regardless of frequency. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

Yep. I fell for it. Try as I might I could not walk past this at our Aldi in Iowa City. :) It seems every year they up the ante on Halloween themed products to tempt us with. I can walk past the candy, but cheese, they got me with that!

Wish I had seen this at one of my stores. I know I would've "caved" and bought it.

What an amazing photo. Incredible that the back of a child can conjure up so many images in my mind. Not only of his life, but also the world he lives in. Definitely a time when a picture paints a thousand words.
A kid, who is said to be from a war-torn town in Iraq, was pictured wearing a plastic bag with "Messi" written on it.

Unbelievable. First David Bowie, now Alan Rickman. I was stunned to hear that we've lost another one of our greats to that awful disease. This is not a good kick off to the year.

Oddly enough it wasn't all over the news like Bowie was. I saw it when I looked at my news feed on my iPad. I really hope this is not setting a trend for the year. I'm still stunned that two such giants are gone. Same age and both of cancer too. Definitely not a good week.

I'm used to seeing deer in my back yard, but wild turkey is a first. It seems they travel in pairs, which I guess doesn't surprise me. Very cool.

Introduction
I'm a Brit who's done a fair amount of traveling and settled down in Coralville, Iowa in 2000.

In 2005 I made a career change and became a real estate agent. All the relocating means  I know a thing or two about buying and selling houses and it seemed a good fit for my personality. I'm a people person, very organized and methodical, (21 years living in Germany helped with that), and figured after buying and selling houses for years I had plenty to bring to the table.

Things have moved along since then and I now have my Broker's license and my own company, Cardinal Realty - A small boutique brokerage with a very simple goal - To make your real estate transaction a smooth and successful one. We do this by combining technology with a personal touch.

When you hire me to help you buy or sell real estate in the Iowa City area you'll have an ally throughout the process. I'm tech savvy and I know the Iowa City area real estate market. I'm passionate about real estate and at the same time don't take myself too seriously. I have a sense of humor, (despite traveling around the globe, I've never lost the Brit in me). I also have an abundance of common sense. (Something that is unfortunately not so common anymore!) Past clients will tell you that I do walk my talk - You can verify that by checking out the testimonial page on my website.

Until G+ I never really "got" the social media thing, but I love it here. I also love books, music and British Comedy.

I like cheese better than chocolate. (Although it's a close call).  :-)

Superior Detailing did an awesome job of replacing the fender on my Nissan Juke. It looks as good as new! Turnaround was quick too - Took the car in yesterday and got it back today. Friendly and helpful, easy to work with. Highly recommended.

Very impressed by the quick turnaround at the Ebert Honey Company in Lynnville Iowa. I ordered bee pollen online Friday afternoon and it arrived on my doorstep a day later by priority mail. That's what I call fast! I will certainly be ordering from them again!

We ate outside so I can't say much about the decor. Food was excellent. I tried the Fish & Chip Wrap, which sounded really interesting to a Brit. It was very spicy and way different than any fish and chip combo I'd eaten before. Definitely a treat for my taste buds. I'd highly recommend it if you want to try something different!

First class customer service. I called Davis Heating around 11.00am and the technician was at the house by 1.30pm. He found the problem quickly and had my A/C up and running in no time. I have a very old air conditioning unit and was afraid I'd get the up sell to replace the unit. He didn't do any of that. I'm sure I'll call them again if I have anymore problems. (And definitely when it comes time to replace the unit). Good customer service is hard to find and these guys delivered!
