I rarely blog anymore; but I think today's subject deserves special recognition.  It is a program started by the Son's of the American Revolution and generously supported by Ancestry.com to provide Genealogical research opportunities to the military's Wounded Warriors.  I had the good fortune to participate in the program at Balboa Naval Hospital and it was a heartwarming and wonderful experience.
Dating back before radio communications, it has been a long time Naval tradition to use signal flags for communicating between ships within visual range.  There is a flag for each letter in the alphabet.  Combining the "B" an...

Today I blogged about Day Two at RootsTech in Salt Lake City.  I enjoyed it better than day one.  Perhaps I did a better job of selecting which presentations to attend!
Well I am pleased to say that I enjoyed Day 2 better than Day 1.  Both of the speakers at the mornings opening session were excellent.  Judy Russell gave a very inspiring speech that strongly supported the theme of the confer...

Good to hear that Day 2 was an improvement for you. The Exhibit Hall looks quite interesting and colorful. What did not click for you on Day 1?

Since I will be attending RootsTech, advertised to be the largest genealogical conference in the U.S., I have decided to blog about it starting with today.  I hope to share some impressions and photos of the exhibit hall and interesting attendees.

I gave up regular blogging about 10 days ago; but had an experience over the Thanksgiving holiday that I just had to write about.  It details the type of good fortune all genealogists aspire to experience.
Serendipity, Good Luck or ? My wife and I spent the Thanksgiving holiday with our youngest daughter and her family in Fort Collins, Colorado.  While there we had dinner in Denver one evening with my college roommate and l...

Today's blog is about my memories of JFK's assassination and about letters in my possession to my great grandfather explaining how his brother was shot and killed in a gunfight near Sundance, Wyoming.  Ironically, this happened in the same time era as the criminal exploits of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Today in my blog I cover the final day of RootsTech 2014 and share some of my impressions.  I am glad I came; but will probably be satisfied next year with just attending Jamboree in Burbank.
Today was the final day of RootsTech.  The Keynote speakers for the day's opening session were Todd Hansen and Stephanie Nielsen.  Todd is an emmy winning producer and TV host.  He hosts and produces The Story Trek on BYUTV. ...

Today's blog is about my first day in Salt Lake.  I arrived two days early to allow some time for research at the Family History Library.  Didn't make any great breakthroughs; but added a few pieces of data that are new.
RootsTech Day Minus Two Arrived today in Salt Lake City two days prior to the start of RootsTech.   Flight was actually about 10 minutes early arriving, I had not checked any bags so went directly to the TRAX (Salt Lake C...

Today's blog is about my dad as a baseball player at the University of Colorado, where I also played some 20 years later.
My Dad's College Baseball In addition to my dad playing football at the University of Colorado (CU), as discussed in previous blogs, he also played baseball for them.  I had several newspaper clippings about his baseball ...
