Job hunting philosophy
For the last few months, I have been helping a number of friends in their job search.  This is a common request I get, given my background. My general advice includes the basics: making sure your written materials are up-to-date and error free, having a sen...

Dear Tom Karinshak, I realize the probability of you reading this is slim to none; this is an important letter and I really hope you do take the time. So let's start at the beginning. In February of 2001 (yes, 2001),...

I love pictures. Good pictures tell really good stories, without any words. But because I love to write, my pictures have to have words. I had a lovely weekend north. The leaves are changing, the colors are popping, and th...

worth the time
Domestic violence and sexual abuse are often called "women’s issues.” But in this bold, blunt talk, Jackson Katz points out that these are intrinsically men’s issues — and shows how these violent behaviors are tied to definitions of manhood. A clarion call for us all — women and men — to call out unacceptable behavior and be leaders of change.

Cherish the madness. We are only here for a little while.
Introduction
Welcome.  Here I post pictures usually involving life, my dog, and my beach.

I have a fabulous job with wonderful people, a mad-genius husband, a silly German shepherd, live in a cool city, spend summers in an awesome place, and have incredible friends.

Despite admonition by friends, I put two spaces after the period. I overuse adjectives.  I have an unhealthy aversion to improper apostrophe use. It's an effort to use capital letters. I take pictures of bad punctuation.

I love what I see through the lens. Sometimes, it translates to a good picture. I love to share them.

It's a really good life and I am grateful to share it with amazing people.

This is our standout favorite restaurant in Michigan. The soups are amazing, made with ingredients Don finds from around the state. Most recently, we had the BLT soup and the Carolina Seafood Chowder. Exquisite. The sandwiches are incredible too. They always have a special sandwich of the day. The salad bar is so unique! Cauliflower soaked in banana peppers, coconut and marshmallow salad, carrots and raisins, Greek pasta salad, kim chi and well then just the regular salad stuff. Stop by. Karen and Sharon will take good care of you!
