Highlights from the 6th Jeevan Kite & River Campaign held at the Brahmaputra river side in Guwahati, and organized by Jeevan Initiative.

The campaign is done by the Jeevan Initiative group, which consists of students of various colleges as well.

The fest / carnival or the campaign organizes activities at the event, such as photography contests, cultural programs, drawing competition for kids, kite festival where hundreds of people fly kites, it is a tradition all over India to fly kites during the harvest festivals, Bihu in Assam.

The festival is going on, I would encourage everyone in Guwahati to please visit the carnival for a great experience, it will definitely cheer you up - https://www.facebook.com/events/1119937071376662/

And finally, here are the photographs that I clicked during the first day of the carnival, more to come! :)

We humans can be beautiful subjects for macro photography as well. That's the close-up of my eye. Oh well. Had no one else with me and was eager to try it out, a mirror was all I needed to see what I got.

:)

Dried out moss on a brick wall (check collection for when it was still green). Looks like a place from a sci-fi alien movie from this close.

A small white flower. All alone on the ground, still blooming. It may look like a white peck of dust on the grass, but when you take a closer look, it comes to tell you a whole different story.

Security UI is hard. Read this for a better, safer experience on the web.
When building applications that display untrusted content, security designers have a major problem— if an attacker has full control of a block of pixels, he can make those pixels look like anything…

A slow motion video snap of a insect (possibly the black aphids on Tulsi leaves I posted earlier) with a shell (does black aphids develop shells?)

This was posted in my Mobile Photography collection, and re-sharing it here for the followers as this too is macro photography

Check this post for the black aphids I clicked earlier which looks related to this - https://plus.google.com/+DeepakKamat/posts/AbTVNL1C2ok

Central mall is in the heart of the Guwahati city and is one of the biggest mall there is in Guwahati, though it doesn't meet the expectations, and there is very less option you have at the mall to do. There aren't a lot of stores on the ground floor, most of them are clothing and fashion, all from big name brands and it is not something one would go every other week. The lack of stores where people can often go results in less number of people visiting. The games hub on the 3rd floor is pretty good, there's a scary house, arcade and table games as well as PS4 Game Parlour, though the prices are way to high to go there regularly, I found. The scary house costs Rs. 120 (last I visited) per head, but it is not worth the money, they could have made it better. The eatery is mostly filled with people, Dominos, Dosa Plaza etc are some attractions, other than that there is nothing much see in the mall, it is relatively small, compared to Malls in other metro cities.

Near the NH37 Highway this temple looks like a place for relaxation after a long ride on the highway. The temple is small but the inside of the temple is very quiet and peaceful, everyone is allowed to go in of course with shoes off and take the pleasure of peace away from the rush of the city. Great temple!
