Nice! Do other malls do this?
Every year parents flock to local malls to capture the moments of their child sharing their Christmas list with Santa.

+John Walkenbach , when I was growing up, the deal was that you'd sit on Santa's lap and talk to him and they'd take a photo. Then they would offer to sell the photo to your parent. You had the option of not buying the photo, but film and developing were a luxury for a lot of families (including mine--we took photos, sure, but not all the time), so having that Santa photo appealed to parents.
These days, with everyone having digital cameras on them all the time, I can see why that business model changed.

Too bad our Thanksgiving was last month -- this is the first I've heard of PieCaken. It looks awesome! Anybody having one?
Continuing the American tradition of stuffing food into other types of food for Thanksgiving.

At the National Music Centre, they're trying to build a working clone of the historic Canadian invention, the Electronic Sackbut.
In the museum community, it's standard practice to share. Information, historical records, and artifacts all circulate between partnering museums on a consistent basis. For artifacts in particular, loans are one of the only ways certain objects are able to break free of the confines of storage ...

There's still lots of time to make your own Christmas cards for this year. These look nice!
It’s Christ-maths time, and there’s no need to be afraid. Oxford maths don Vicky Neale explains how to impress your friends with these stunning cards.

Oh no! Almost missed Fibonacci Day.
It seems there's a day for everything, right. National Cashew Day (you guessed it, that's today), World Philosophy Day (nope, sorry – last Thursday). Heck, you can even register your own National Day of [fill in the blank]. So thanks to MIT's twitter account, I became aware that today is ...

I don't care what James Taylor is singing -- I'll watch it.
In this video, he's done an update on Fire and Rain, to include all the things he hadn't seen in 1970.

You say Tomate and I say Bruschetta -- either way, I'd eat that!

Fresh tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, salt, and bread are all you need. [Photographs: J. Kenji López-Alt] Pan con tomate is just about as humble as tapas can get. It's got only five ingredients—bread, tomato, olive oil, garlic, and salt—and requires barely any actual cooking, yet it's precisely this simplicity and restraint that make it such a perfect end-of-summer dish. This is the kind of thing I make as an appetizer at a party or combine with a h...
