Is there life without Facebook?

I'm trying to find out. I deactivated my account on New Year's Day, not because of a resolution, just finally got tired of it for many reasons.

And look what I managed to finish! It's just a simple little zippered pouch, but a good project for me to work on my #sewing skills. There's a bit of top-stitching on the other side that I need to redo to really claim that it's finished. That will be today's project.

Here's to a crafty 2015!

I know I need a structured eating plan to keep my weight under control. I lost a lot of weight around '03-'04 by religiously counting every calorie, then put it all back on and then some by this past summer. I thought I'd learned what I could eat and didn't have to count everything. I was wrong. I'm now doing the Weight Watcher's PointsPlus program and it seems to be working well for me. It's not as hard as counting every calorie. It's probably not as accurate either, but that seems to be okay.

Any coffee geeks out there have an opinion on grinders, espresso machines, etc? I think it's time to retire my 30 some year old Krups blade grinder and get a bit more serious about the quality of my coffee. When I make coffee just for me, I use a small French press, but I also have a run-of-the-mill drip pot when I need coffee for a group. I don't know if I'm ready to invest in the espresso machine yet, but I've been convinced that getting a decent grinder is the first step. This is the one I'm leaning toward.

I really need Coffee For Dummies!

Folks in the San Francisco Bay area: A friend of mine is selling two lawn tickets for the Sunday performance of the 25th Annual Bridge School Benefit Concert. If you or anyone you know is interested, please let me know and I'll put you in touch with her.

A 21st Century "Jungle"?

I've been a very loyal Amazon.com customer for a very long time, but this article is making me rethink our relationship.

Definitely worth reading if you have a dog or even just care about dogs. Sometimes I think the average family dog was better off back in the day when we didn't try to "train" them and they simply learned on their own how things worked.
