Sunset South of Boise
So far south of Boise, this might be in the town of Kuna. Clear, cold, brittle winter evening. Most Boise views focus north, on the mountains. Desert is to the south.

Japanese New Year Celebration in Boise
Japanese New Year was celebrated last weekend at the Dick Eardley Senior Center. Pounding the mochi is a traditional activity. Messy and really fun!  Happy New Year from Japanese school students. This is kadomatsu, a traditional bamboo and pine arrangement ...

Boise Grows Up
Boise has a bodega across from City Hall now. Bodegas feel like a big city "thing." This is the first of two planned for downtown. There is also one on the Bench. While these don't look like the ones I've seen in New York City, they are a welcome addition. ...

No need to purchase new geraniums each year. They can live in the garage for the winter. Even unheated garages. Give them a big trim before tucking them in for the winter. More tips at the link.

Oh, and we call geraniums aren't really geraniums. But I refuse to call them anything else.

An "easy" spaghetti squash recipe experiment. End results were awesome. Nice long strands ready for more herbs and sauces. Getting there was dangerous. Serious question: what's the best knife to use to cut the squash before cooking?

How cute! A ladybug...but those little orange gals are not so cute. Oleander aphids are probably sucking the life out of your milkweed plants.

There's not a lot you can do, except marvel at the ability of aphids to have babies without having sex. They're born pregnant. Very tricky. More lurid details at the link along with a video.

Thank you for all the generosity for the WCA.

Have you seen the giant displays for masks in the beauty section of every store? It's a THING...again. Along with another blast-from-my-past-pimple days.

Going to give the lemon version a try for a home spa weekend.

These aren't the kind that solidify on your face. They are pre-treated cloths made of paper and cotton.
