DEARBORN, MI – Valerie Murphy-Goodrich, who was fired without warning by the Dearborn Civil Service Commission in a public meeting, and then fired again one week later by letter (back in 2012), has a pending lawsuit against the City of Dearborn alleging violation of public policy, wrongful discharge, retaliatory discharge, and violation of procedural due process.



On Monday, May 16, 2016, The Henry Ford will host New York Times bestselling authors, former Secret Service agent Clint Hill and co-author Lisa McCubbin to discuss their new book, “Five Presidents- My Extraordinary Journey with Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford.” Guests will hear the fascinating firsthand accounts of Mr. Hill’s 17 year career protecting the highest office in the nation.

Residents and staff of Oakwood Common recently welcomed new Executive Chef James “Jamie” Minton, II and Baker Angel Hagen to this Dearborn senior living community.

Recruited for their culinary expertise, Chef Minton and Baker Hagen are both natives of the Detroit metro area with interesting travels on the high seas.

The Dearborn Community Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2015 Distinguished Speaker will be Ms. Cindy Olsen, Edsel & Eleanor Ford House Curator and Director of Material Culture, at the highly anticipated First Lady’s Tea honoring Dearborn’s First Lady, Christina O’Reilly on Saturday, April 25 at the Dearborn Hills Golf Course Clubhouse at 1pm.

Rain or shine, residents in the assisted living area of Oakwood Common, receive a special dose of sunshine each month from the Garden Club of Dearborn. 

Members of the Club’s horticultural therapy group come laden with fresh flowers, plants, gardening tools and vases to work with residents who are physically challenged and no longer have the mobility they once had. Each monthly workshop has a different holiday or seasonal theme.

he Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce has launched a new, free mobile application to aid residents and visitors to the Dearborn area in discovering the offerings of the community’s businesses and attractions. The app, called “Discover Dearborn,” was launched in partnership with the City of Dearborn, and both the East Dearborn Downtown Development Authority and the West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority.

Talented high school students from across Dearborn will compete for top honors at the second annual “Dearborn’s Got Talent!” show on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

Tickets are on sale now to see the dazzling competition as “the best of the best” talented students from Dearborn High School, Edsel Ford, Fordson and Divine Child entertain and amaze the audience as they perform magic, sing, dance, and play musical instruments—some in bands, others as soloists.

This traditional High Tea offers a fun filled afternoon luncheon highly anticipated every year by many in the community whose attendance guarantees a “sell-out”.
