After several years with an Intel i7-4770k I decided to upgrade to an AMD Ryzen 1800x purely cause I love the multicore performance for productivity and the price point. I know games are still a murky area with this chip (it is early days) - but so far from what I've used in real world tests this CPU is fantastic. Even beating my old cpu by 52% in multicore tests.

Luckily the ARCH kernel had the Ryzen fixes backported to the 4.09 kernel. Though just updated to 4.10 though. Hopefully Linux support will improve rapidly.

Hopefully future games will be even more optimized for multicore. And AMD are already working with developers to improve performance.

So here it is:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 1800x @ 4.1ghz
MOBO: Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3
RAM: 32gb DDR4 3000mhz Corsair Vengeance RAM
GFX: Gigabyte GTX 1070 /w 8gb RAM
HDDS: 2x128gb SSDs, 1x480gb SSD and 960gb SSD
PSU: Corsair 700GS (700w)
CASE: Corsair Crystal Series 570X RGB ATX Mid-Tower Case

Just purchased the 1800x, and I'm using Linux. There are still a few kinks with this CPU at the moment. The biggest was a multithreading bug - this was fixed in the most recent linux kernel. Oh and there are no temperature sensor drivers yet which is slightly annoying. Here is my desktop anyway :)

An in-progress change on my desktop - there will still be a lot of changes down the track. Just thought I'd celebrate my new Ryzen CPU with a desktop change. All configs and wallpapers can be found at https://code.fsociety.info

I'll just put this here. And here are the configs for anyone that is interested in using them and modifying theme.  I've also included the wallpapers as well.

On a quick note it is Arch Linux running bspwm.

Before it was green and now it is blue.  I think blue is more fitting don't you think.  Anyway - the configs/wallpapers are available to https://github.com/z1lt0id/2016-dots

Haven't posted here in a while, but I thought I'd post some screens of Dolphin (Wii Emu) running at 2K - the game is Xenoblade Chronicles. And boy it is wonderful (psst.. just like Xenogears).

Running on Arch with a GTX 970 at 3440x1440 (really 2560x1440 because of no 21:9 support). Also has the Xenoblade high res texture pack installed.

From my summer/autumn feel earlier this month - decided I want to go 90s hacker at the end of April.

Running bspwm, the bar is rendered using yabar, the terminal is urxvt with weechat inside a tmux session.
