A self described American "patriot" planted a bomb in Georgia and tried to make it look like Muslims did so he could "wake" Americans up to threat of Muslims. He would've killed Americans to cause more anti-Muslim bigotry. He was arrested by FBI this week but media barely covered story. My new The Daily Beast on this frightening plot in hopes it raises awareness about right wing terrorism in US: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/03/26/the-patriot-terrorist-is-anything-but.html
The Georgia man who planted a bomb was willing to see innocents die so that people would blame Muslims. And he called himself a ‘patriot.’

The backlash against Starbucks proposal to spark a conversation about race relations proves most peeps want to avoid issue. And when I say "most peeps" I mean white people. My new CNN Opinion article. Hope you check it out. Thanks
My new CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/18/opinions/obeidallah-starbucks-race/
The problem is that most white Americans don't want to discuss race relations.

Hey Netanyahu, "Security" means Palestine too! The Palestinian issue is just as big of a security issue, but Netanyahu has ignored it since taking office in 2009. Well, almost: he has led an unprecedented increase in settlement construction in the West Bank and prevented the rebuilding of Gaza. My new The Daily Beast article. Hope u check it out. Thanks
If the Israeli prime minister’s speech is really about security, he’ll talk about the powder keg we call Palestine. Not holding my breath.

A man armed with 6 homemade bombs, poison spray+a machete attacked federal officers at New Orleans airport on Friday. Of course if he were Muslim there's no doubt this would be labeled a terrorist attack. But since he isn't, the media barely covers it and no where do they use word "terrorism." Instead it's "mental illness" even though ZERO evidence to support that. My new The Daily Beast http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/03/24/surprise-another-christian-terrorist.html
Did you hear about the man who entered New Orleans’ airport with explosives and a machete? No? Well, you would have if he’d been Muslim.

Christianne Boudreau's son was recruited by ISIS, travelled from his home in Canada and was killed in Syria. She is now bravely countering ISIS' recruitment efforts to save other parents from the grief of having to bury a child. Plus she reveals the sales pitch used by ISIS (Hint: it wasn't about Islam) My new The Daily Beast article: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/03/17/how-one-mom-is-taking-on-isis.html
Her son was happy at first after he converted to Islam. Then ISIS came calling. Now he’s dead, and she’s trying to help other parents.

Ted Cruz really cares about people in need! (LOL) Cruz introduced an alternative to Obamacare - can we call it "Teddycare"? With Cruz's track record of not caring about anything but getting his name in the press, you know the plan won't really help those in need. My new The Daily Beast http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/03/05/ted-cruz-s-obamacare-substitute-he-cares-really.html
And now, Ted Cruz has offered an alternative to Obamacare. And it’s, uh, better than a tattoo of Winston Churchill.

Looking forward to being on Stephanie Miller Show this AM talking politics and my latest The Daily Beast article about Muslims in US are defined by the media, not Islam. Hope you tune in. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/02/24/muslims-must-learn-to-define-themselves.html
The inspirational Muslim-Jewish action over the weekend in Norway has to serve as a model for the majority of Muslims who want peace.

Introduction
Born in the Great State of New Jersey, my comedy comes in large part from my unique background of being the only son of a Palestinian father and a Sicilian mother. Both my parents have provided me with an enormous amount of material, usually unintentionally.

I was a practicing lawyer for several years until the other lawyers I worked with suggested I perform in the New Jersey Bar Association's funniest lawyer show. I am pretty sure that was their way of telling me to find a new career.

I'm a columnist for The Daily Beast and have also written for CNN.com and The Huffington Past.

I co-produced and co-directed the comedy documentary "The Muslims Are Coming!" which uses comedy to challenge misconceptions about Muslims and to build bridges with people of other faiths. The film is now available on Netflix, iTunes, Google Play and many other platforms.

I have appeared on various national and international televisions shows, including Comedy Central's "Axis of Evil Comedy" special and "The Watch List," ABC's "The View," Al Jazeera English, MBC, "Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen," CNN's "American Morning" and "Wolf Blitzer's Reports," Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd," Fox News, NY1, PBS' "Newshour with Jim Lehrer," ABC's "20/20," CNBC's "The Big Idea with Donnie Deutsch," Japan's NHK, CNN International's "Inside the Middle East" and "Your World Today," as well as in numerous sketches on NBC's "Saturday Night Live."

I have written numerous jokes that have appeared on "Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update" segment and CBS's "The Late, Late Show," and frequently write for The Huffington Post and CNN.com.

I have also been featured in numerous newspapers and publications including Time magazine, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Vanity Fair (Italy edition), Associated Press, USA Today, AFP, The UK's Guardian, NY Daily News, The NJ Star Ledger and numerous college publications.

I co-produced an Internet show along with Max Brooks for Comedy Central entitled "The Watch List" featuring all Middle-Eastern American performers.

I also perform a stand up show with Jewish comic Scott Blakeman entitled "Stand up for Peace," (www.standupforpeace.com) which uses comedy to bring people together in the hope of fostering peace in the Middle East.

I am the co-founder of the annual NY Arab-American Comedy Festival (www.arabcomedy.org) which will hold its 11th annual Festival in Fall 2014. I am also the Executive Producer of the Amman Stand Up Comedy Festival which took place in December 2008 - this was the first stand up comedy festival ever in Middle East history.  The 3rd annual Festival was held in December 2010.

I perform comedy at colleges across the US and across the Middle East.  Please follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/deanofcomedy
