I am a reformed chemist.
I switch careers and started getting paid
to play with computers.
It is a cliche, but.... what a long strange trip it's been.
I went to school in the last century, in the early '80's.
you could go home from college for the summer,
work two jobs and pay for school for the rest of the year.
a decent internship paid $10 per hour (20k per year).
a decent job paid $25k per year, a great job $50k.
tuition at state schools was $400 per semester.
room and board cost $2k per semester.
a new cheap dependable compact car cost $5k.
Back when we DID NOT have ...
smart phones that you could use to look up facts (and recipes)
smart phones that could carry your entire music collection
smart phones that could stream music and movies.
smart phones with digital cameras
smart phones with digital movie cameras
Sigh... I wish the kids today could have all of that useful technology and have the low cost tuition.
