Do it soon so we'll have 18 months to forget it was necessary.

“Someone in the party ought to start some sort of petition saying, ‘If Trump’s going to be on the stage, I’m not going to be on there with him,’” Republican donor John Jordan told The Associated Press on Monday, according to a report published Tuesday. “I’m toying with the idea of it.”
At least one top Republican donor wants the party to keep Donald Trump from the debate stage. “Someone in the party ought to start some sort of petition saying, ‘If Trump’s going to be on the stage, I’m not going to be on there with him,’” Republican donor John Jordan told The Associated Press on Monday, according...

But the best way to handle someone like Donald Trump is to give him enough rope to hang himself. As was the case with Joseph McCarthy — who ultimately exposed himself as a demagogue — sunlight is usually the best disinfectant.

A central premise of my forthcoming book Too Dumb to Fail is that Republican politicians continually encounter perverse incentives. There is little downside to engaging in reckless rhetoric. Indeed

The Best Thing in the Sky This Week.

Communication has since been reestablished and the spacecraft is healthy. Preparations are ongoing to resume the originally planned science operations on July 7 and to conduct the entire close flyby sequence as planned.
An anomaly on Saturday caused New Horizons to enter “safe mode.” The mission is returning to normal science operations on July 7 and remains on track for the July 14 Pluto flyby.

I'm glad the Pension Tour is over.

Bob Weir drew chuckles from our garage viewing party when he emerged Sunday night with a “Let Trey Sing” T-shirt and Phil Lesh made his standard dedication to Cody, the man who donated the liver he received in 1998. But what about Jerry Garcia? Did anybody consider just mentioning the master or sporting a JG Band t-shirt?
In the Grateful Dead's farewell, there was hardly a mention of the guy who wrote and sang some of its best.

Physicians are spared the consequences of failing to learn about and implement a free diagnosis coding system for another year. Meanwhile the rest of the industry is converting October 1.

Doctors and others have raises (sic) concerns about the time and money it takes to switch over to the new system. Because the codes are linked to doctors’ payments, there have also been concerns that claims could be denied over confusion about them.

Tucked into a nondescript retail space that has housed a succession of eateries, Wonderful Bistro offers Chinese cuisine. On my first visit I was happily surprised to see a freshly refurbished interior that avoided the clutter of previous tenants of the space. The glass-topped tables are already decorated for Valentine's Day with pink paper hearts peering up through the glass. The menu is a bit on the large side but offers a satisfying range of entrees, each prepared on order and served in traditional family style platters and plates. Typical entrees range from $12 to $15, and you can get a whole roasted duck for $30. My Szechuan Beef was beautifully perfumed with garlic, the Hot and Sour Soup was well balanced and even managed to make the tofu tasty. Wonderful Bistro's service is low key but timely. Servers are happy to expertly describe each fish and help diners make the right menu choice. If there is a downside it's the lack of a liquor license, but the restaurant has an application pending. The addition of a balanced wine list would complete the dining experience. I'll go back.
