See it here - http://www.dbta.com/Editorial/Trends-and-Applications/DBTA-100-2015---The-Companies-That-Matter-Most-in-Data-104063.aspx
The world of information technology is often described as an ecosystem. And just like an ecosystem that exists in nature, IT is affected by internal and external factors. In this issue of Database Trends and Applications magazine, we introduce the third annual list of companies that matter in data, a reflection of the IT ecosystem as it exists now.

"In 2011, the global output of data increased 62%, yet there's a massive shortage in the number of qualified data professionals to process this data," said Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan, CEO and founder of ClearStory Data. ClearStory Data, she added, intends to help advance self-driven big data exploration by making it easier for the masses and not just data scientists and quantitative analysts to explore and gain insights from data derived from multiple sources.

Lectures related to master data bring forth all sorts of taxonomies intended to help clarify master data and its place within an organization. Sliding scales may be presented: at the top, not master data; at the bottom, very much master data; in the middle, increasing degrees of "master data-ness." For the longest of times everyone thought metadata was confusing enough ... oops, we've done it again.

Interesting. Sham or Shame not understanding the market..The winner in all categories a single company even if it means picking a product that has been deprecated. Their categories don’t make sense. Streams and SharePlex are replication products but placed in separate categories. Yet, a product like DBMoto is listed under both replication and change data capture. There’s no mention of the whole field of products being evaluated, only the winner and runner ups. Who paid for this..or wh's going to pay when time is wasted doing a POC to solive an issue, with wrong solution..

While emails have been "the smoking gun" in many recent court cases, the new big wave in what is "discoverable" is structured (database) data. Accessing data is simpler and much faster from structured data than non-structured data. If the response to e-discovery can come from a structured data format, it is usually much faster than the alternatives and can mitigate the risk of steep fines due to delayed response time.
