One of my friends likes to describe me as the type of person who isn't afraid to go up to bat and strike out with everyone watching. Clearly, I have her snowed, because I am Type A+ when it comes to self-criticism, however, it is a solid truth about me. I try. I fail. I pout. Occasionally I whine. When I am done kicking and screaming, I write about it. Then I get up the next day and start the next chapter. Thus is the story of me. And, how I got to this next chapter—and new job.
SEM Content Manager is a big leap from an editorial flag-waving, pulpit-standing journalist who used to throw down against her publisher for being forced to write about, or ink content based on, advertisers. Funny thing is, the science of SEO (the data behind it) fascinates me, as does the opportunity to solve puzzles for my company and our clients. I get paid well to do it and I work remotely 4 days a week. That is a sweet gig.
About all that other writing, well... been on hiatus for a long time now. However, aka FINALLY, I am launching my stalled out blog, PhiladelphiaLoveStory.com in June of 2015. (Only 4 months late.) For a former lifestyles magazine editor, this is the perfect venue for writing about whatever I want to, not what someone else wants me to. There are so many neat things about The City of Brotherly Love that sit just below the surface, I can't wait to shout out about all the people, places, organizations and "stuff" that make this city exciting to me every single day. And advertisers? Who needs 'em? This is all fun. And yes, the writing will be good. Otherwise, why bother?
