sometimes you just remember something in the nick of time.
Yes, this has nothing to do with the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras or Chinese New Year, It has nothing to do with Ground Hogs or Valentines. It is late and I didn't want to skip my practice. I actually like this design considerin...

if you squint it looks like a weave.
One thing about working on this diagonal, I was always going one of two ways. up to the right or down to the left. With squares I went all the way around, with going up to the top left being the hardest to keep straight. I ...

7 days of squares, trying to improve my eye / hand co-ordination.
today was a good day. It started out snowing, then got sunny but breezy. Doctor's appointment went well. Lunch with hubby went very well. Then we walked the dog. By then I was ready to relax. This drawing was done in two b...

sometimes these designs take longer than expected, even if the concept is simple.
for my practices I planned on working about 30 minutes a day. I got two sides done in half an hour and had to take a break. It took nearly an hour to finish this design of squares. I'll finish up this week with squares an...

OH strokie goodness.
So I took the time to make all these diagonal lines. Over all I was pleased but...So I dropped the image into Photoshop. I tried Bevel but I really didn't think it would help. It didn't help. So I tried a black stroke. Oh...

you can't win them all
well, I did the exercise but I think the results are not very eye pleasing. too sloppy and too jumbled and confusing. But at least I took 30 minutes today to draw diamonds. And drawing the diamonds I went in all 4 direction...

turn all those squares onto their points
So now that I've worked with squares, it is time to turn them on the side and work with diamonds and other diagonals. I need to make sure I don't turn my paper 45 degrees and work on squares again. The point is to continue t...

look, I can make a circle out of squares.  KInda like making my own super sized pixels.
Just making squares can be boring but when you add some gradients it really makes it a bit more appealing. This time I did not change the tint or shade, I only changed the hues. I've been practicing my eye/hand work all week ...

my hubby and I stopped by for a quick lunch. We had our dog with us so having outdoor seating (picnic benches) was ideal. We had the bbq sandwich and ribs. They were huge and very tasty. My sweetheart had mac and cheese and wonderful baked beans for sides and I had sweet potato and onion rings on the side. The sweet potato was very good but the onion rings were not worth the mark-up. Their hours are from 11:00 to sold out so make sure to get there early enough. We would definitely stop there again next time we are in the Indian Head area.

Dr Miller and his staff have a very small practice but they are so very good. Dr. Miller is quick and calm with our young German Shepherd. He has been quite thorough with our new patient visit and he has helped us take care of a couple of small issues that came up, so that our pup was up and busy and feeling good as quickly as possible.

We dropped in the the store and asked about an estimate for fencing around our yard. George was able to fit us in between appointments, He measured the property and gave us an estimate for our original idea. It was much more expensive than we had anticipated. He then took the time to work with us to come up with a plan that would look good and work well and be closer to our budget. The project, which was large, did take longer than planned. Weather did not help and sometimes they had staffing issues. But in the end we got a good looking fence, well installed. The workmen were pleasant to work with and cleaned up at the end. Very little was left behind.

This is a small store that carries a nice variety of high quality pet foods. I have asked for special orders and they have always been able to meet my needs at a fair price. They have three dog washing stations if you need to give you dog a bath. They also have grooming services.

having read a few other reviews about poor service and food, I have to say our experience is the opposite. Food has always been tasty and generous and exactly as ordered. Our servers have always been pleasant. We don't mind a bit of a wait for our food since we typically go in nice weather and bring our dog. They have a nice dog friendly patio both in front and in back of the restaurant. We usually don't order the cocktails. My mom occasionally orders wine, we usually have coffee. They keep our cups hot and full.

This is a nice little two woman shop. They are both very skilled cutting hair for women, children and men. It is best to call and make an appointment but they will accept walk-ins if they have time.
