In Ontario, official signs must be in both French and English. In Quebec, it's illegal to post a sign in english.
I fully agree that all MPs and co. should be bilingual. They are supposed to serve the whole country and they cannot do that without being able to communicate in both official languages.
However, as a Canadian citizen, i should have the same ease of access to government information - like road signs or websites - in any province i visit.
What the conservatives should do is introduce a bill that ties equalization payments to bilingual compliance.
That way all Canadians will be treated equally whether they want to communicate with government or if they are accessing government information.
