I love it when my geek passions collide. While surfing for background info on Downton Abbey (a great show which I've just gotten into), I stumbled upon +Ben Schmidt's "Anachronism Machine" -- an tool that uses R and Google n-grams to compare frequency of phrases to their historical usage patterns (as recorded in books that Google Books has transcribed). It's one of the cooler data science applications I've come across in a while.
