I've got an old telephone system I need to connect a SIP phone to. Right now it's connected like this (pbx) <-> (ata) <-> (VoIP system) <-> (SIP Phone). I'd like to remove the (VoIP system) by registering the SIP phone directly to the (ata) since it simply needs to be a pass-through with no logic. I don't know if there's a simpler way, but I was thinking I could embed Asterisk on an ATA to achieve this. Can anyone provide any pointers on how to do this, or suggest other solutions?

I'm trying to configure an Asterisk server so I can connect to it from a Switchvox server with the default Switchvox provider config. I've asked the Google, but my Google fu has not been strong enough to find the answer. Can anyone point me to an example config?

+David Ruggles, for you reference, we set up an evaluation site running Wifi and WDS to mesh where we couldn't get cables, they were a car dealership with a three lane divided main road to cross between sales and service.

We tried a number of Wifi telephony solutions, from simple Media5 clients on the iPhone and android, to more esoteric GSM cellular solutions with signaling and control over wifi.

They were all crap compared with DECT. While the functionality was there, they were either unreliable, battery gluttons, or both.

Anything GSM has a call setup time that is significant. Anything purely WiFi is a battery hog. All failed to respond to calls at least half a dozen times.....except DECT solutions.

In the end, they went with Polycom / Kirk DECT. Not my first choice, but that wasn't my roll in the exercise.

Spent time on Amtrak Silver Meteor recently, side tracked waiting for those Norfolk Southern trains to pass (especially when Amtrak fell behind schedule due to a medical emergency).

Hope that is good news, and not the "I'm with the government and I'm here to help you" kind.

+Russell Nelson I found it so interesting I took the map and merged Google maps imagery to get some idea of how it was laid out.

Any idea how long fiber termination should take? I mean the time to physically put an end on fiber. I'm thinking it shouldn't take too long, but I've never done it/had it done before so I didn't know.

Can anyone recommend the best SIP Trunking providers for asterisk? I'm currently talking to Broadvox and they want to put CPE on site. I really want a provider that will support connecting directly to Asterisk and not adding additional equipment.

Introduction
I'm a IT guy by trade, but a rail guy by love. I enjoy RailFanning and HO scale model railroading, #free-mo specifically, and I've always wanted to work on the railroad for a while. I have an interest in Photography, mainly related to RailFanning, but also in general.

On the IT side: I dig telephony, VoIP, Asterisk and Networking. I've done website/web portal dev work, some Linux & Windows administration. Generally a Jack-of-all-trades, there's not much I don't enjoy and know, at least a little, about.

My dad recently purchased a replacement laptop keyboard from Coastech Computers, 832 N. Dixie Hwy, Lake Worth, Florida 33460. It turned out to be a very unpleasant experience. He completed the purchase online and paid via Paypal. He received a Paypal confirmation of the payment but no order confirmation from the seller. He called the seller the next day and was sent an order confirmation that was incorrect. Although it did indicate the correct item and price it had the wrong payment method and showed the order as "Completed", although it was not. Over the next week He contacted the seller many times to request status and tracking information. He was given various excuses as to why the information could not be supplied. The favorite excuse seemed to be that the person with the information was on break and would return in 2 hours. After a week passed He initiated a dispute with Paypal. Only then did the seller ship an item. When the keyboard arrived it turned out to be the wrong one. He requested resolution from the seller but received no response. He then escalated the Paypal dispute to a claim. After a week of no response from the seller Paypal ruled in his favor. In summary I would advise people to stay away from this seller.

I can't say enough good things about Casey and the team. I called ahead and reserved a gun. I live about an hour and a half away, and ran into bad traffic on the way, I called Casey and they stayed open 15 minutes late for me. My wife also wanted a gun and they gave us a really good deal on two guns after everything else they had done for us. It is a bit of a drive for me, but they will always be on my short list for any future purchases.

Obviously not a five star, but very clean, smelled good and has the necessities. A very good deal for the price. I would stay here again.

We stopped by early afternoon on a Saturday, we were the only people in the restaurant (there were a few customers in the bar). The food took a long time to come, several items (sides and rolls) kept getting forgotten by the either the waitress or the kitchen, meal wasn't great, overall not impressed and won't be back.

We had a wonderful experience. My wife and I had the "All You Care To Eat Dinners", we thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere and the wait staff was great. We overheard that they had a new chef and if so, it showed. We have nothing bad to say about our experience.
