Meet the Glass Guides

Where would the first successful summit climb at Mount Everest have been without Tenzing Norgay? All explorers need a guide sometimes, and Glass Explorers are no exception.

That’s why we have the Glass Guides. So that everyone who gets Glass can have the best possible experience, right from when they first pick it up.

Guides are the first people you meet when you get Glass, and they know just about everything there is to know about it. They help set you up and make sure you’re fitted properly. If you have any questions, issues, or just want to chat, they’re always there for you: on email, on the phone, #andonheretoo. You can also visit the Guides IRL at one of our pick-up locations in New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco.

We think our Guides are brilliant. Explorers love them, we love them. They come from incredibly diverse backgrounds and are seriously some of the smartest, funniest people on the team.

We could try to write more about who the Glass Guides are, but we wouldn’t be able to do them justice, so let’s just see what they have to say for themselves...

New Frames & Shades for Glass

If we had a nickel for every time someone has asked about prescription lenses for Glass… well, we’d have a lot of nickels. So we want you to be the first to know that the Titanium Collection is here, with a handful of new styles for Glass so you can make it your own. Whether you wear prescription glasses or just want a new look, we’ve got four feather-light titanium frames designed just for you. And if you need prescription lenses and have vision insurance (such as VSP), your policy might even help cover your new frames. Explorers can access the Titanium Collection tomorrow afternoon, along with two new styles of twist-on shades.

This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to hear which style is your style. Check ‘em out on our website, and tell us what you think: google.com/glass

Story
Introduction
Hello! My name's David and I am enjoying life as a Chicagoan who now lives in San Francisco and works for the wonderful Google.

When I'm not at work, my time is spent enjoying music, theatre, movies and online design blogs. Don't let those fool you, though, I also know plenty about sports. Life-dream? Going to Wimbledon.

The views expressed by me are mine and not my employer's.
Bragging rights
I can hum the score to almost any well-known movie. I lived and worked as an a cappella singer on a cruise ship for 7 months in the Mediterranean. As a child, I won every coloring contest I entered.

I stayed at this hotel for one night for business and was incredibly surprised by the facilities and quality. The room was a great rate and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I have stayed in Sheraton and Westin hotels that have had poorer facilities and higher price tags. If you're in the Minneapolis area, I highly suggest this hotel.

You would never know it by walking by, but this place has some of the best Vietnamese food in the city and possibly country. You may have to sit at a table with others (communal seating sometimes), and the decor may leave a lot to be desired, but it's still worth going for the great food.

This is THE place in Chicago to go see an independent film. You know... the ones that come out and you're dying to see, but they open in "select cities" first, and then maybe make it to the big, big screens. The mall it's attached to is quite depressing (with many vacancies), but the theatre itself is worth going to for the movies it shows. I'll continue going back many times.

Santullo's serves delicious, New York style pizza. They're also open late. What they don't serve, though, is kindness. I went to Santullo's to grab a late-night bite to eat with friends and went up to the register to order a pepperoni pizza. Well, I couldn't buy a whole pie. Okay, I'll have one slice of pepperoni, and as I hand the cashier my money, she explains that she doesn't have cash. Right then, I turn around to the cook screaming at people to "GO HOME!" (even though they had an additional one full hour of operation). 30 minutes later, I had a decent piece of pizza and a "note to self" to never return.

This place is by far the least obnoxious place in River North. For people who aren't into the 'scene' of River North, this is the best oasis for them. Not only were the food and drinks (fancy cocktails and craft beer selections) top notch, but the staff could not have been friendlier and more accommodating. You feel like you're in your grandpa's basement (in a good way). I will definitely be going back very soon.

I have seen many movies here and love it. I like how they sometimes do play more of the independent movies, but I still seek more of those out at Music Box and Century Landmark. This is a great place to go if you're super excited about the "opening night" of a big-budget movie. The facilities are great and it's always fun to be a part of a packed, opening-night crowd.

Wow - I'm impressed. This place is a new gem in Chicago (from the same team who brought DMK Burger Bar and Fish Bar). My group of friends weren't able to secure a Thursday night reservation, so we figured we'd give it a shot anyway. We were seated very shortly after getting there and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating throughout. We didn't have a single bad dish and ended it on the highest note with the pork chops. To finish, we each had a glass of Limoncello and some home-made doughnuts. We played ping pong, we had cocktails, we ate delicious food, and we enjoyed the beautiful weather on the outside patio. I can't think of a place in Chicago I'd rather re-visit than Ada Street.
