I have a great opportunity in my lap. The short version is that +Pelgrane Press Ltd
is concerned that they just don't have enough women writers. Which is a great thing to be considering. I reached out.
They want to not just hire the same group of women who pop up all the time (like me) but want to reach out to new writers and not just hire them but MENTOR them thru the process. This is a great opportunity. And you don't even need me to help you with it. If you want to just reach out to Pelgrane, go for it!
However. If you're new to this, I totes realize that reaching out in this way is HARD OH MY GOD HARD! SO HARD! AHHH HARD! Which is where I come in. I'm willing to help you thru the process of submitting, make introductions, help you maybe assess if the project is for you if you're worried about it, and then if that works out, hand you off to the loving hands of the loving peeps over there. How does it work? Drop me a message here, and I'll contact you! THERE ARE REQUIREMENTS THO SO READ CAREFULLY
1)To write professionally as a freelancer you have to know how to follow directions and hit a deadline. Even if the instructions are weird and you don't totally understand why, you do them because that's the job. (in this case, I'm sure if you asked 'hey, why does this have to be in 39 pt Helvetica font every third word?' in your mentorship, your developer will explain.)
2)Actually that's it. You do not have to have 'talent' or 'skill' or 'experience' for this job. There's no lower rung here. Talent, skill, are entirely subjective, frankly, and you have NO WAY of knowing if your style of writing is what (or close to) what they're looking for unless you try. Do not count yourself out of this for anything other than limitations on number 1. (And even then, if it's based on health concerns, for example, let's talk to Pelgrane about that!)
Hit me up. Put yourself forward. This is not specifically for people with publishing credits, but it's nice to know that you're looking even if this one isn't for you. If I get swamped, (I doubt it) I may have to put a hard limit on this. But. Probably not. I will delete any comments that disparage or count you out. "I'd really love to but..." Just don't post them. Put yourself forward, encourage others, but don't put yourself out. Not here. (I've seen a trend where once ONE of those count-out posts shows up, eight more follow. Also. Following weird directions is important.) Okay. Go. Share. Post. Let's do this!
