Here is a question that made me think. A company I came across shows in Google Suggest (3rd link down) for a negative story about them from about 3 years ago.
The company has turned it's performance around and in fact they have a great news story to share.
Looking at the terms for Google Autocomplete this is not something we can easily change https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/106230?hl=en
In the case of the company (a small business) in question, this negative autocomplete phrase could impact the perception someone has of their business.
I am wondering if anyone knows how the autocomplete results can be influenced to reflect today's story about the organisation and how often it gets refreshed? I have read some articles that seem to been on the darker side of grey (almost black hat) SEO hacks.
There is however an interesting case study here from 2012 about how one organisation looked to change the autocomplete suggestions for their country http://moz.com/blog/romanians-are-smart-or-how-to-change-the-google-autocomplete-suggestions
I would be particularly interested if people like and could share their point of view and expertise on this perhaps sharing any articles they have written on the topic.
In the meantime, have you had a similar situation happen for your organisation and what action did you take?
