I had been meaning to try the +Ubuntu Unity 8 session for a while, and finally last evening had a bit of hacking time and decided to go for it. This is not yet the convergent desktop experience, but rather a way to comfortably test Unity8 on your regular desktop.

I'm really impressed by a) the LXC container setup, which does not mess the rest of your system and lets you switch between your classic desktop and the new Unity and b) even with apps not yet being completely functional, the look and feel of the Unity 8 session on a big monitor (after being used to see it on the phone).

Kudos to everyone working on pushing the boundaries of the convergence vision. In particular, thanks to +Stephen M. Webb and Chris Townsend for their help in debugging a couple of issues to get me up and running.

If you want to give it a go, remember that this is for early testing purposes only, and that you should have either an Intel graphics card, or switch to the nouveau driver if you're using nvidia:
